He would have only been in trouble if he had actually used the pepper spray because most cops in BC literally don't care about you carrying weapons and shit for self defense, it's sorta like how before weed was legal you'd avoid the cops, not because you'd get into real trouble, but because they'd "confiscate" it to smoke it themselves.

Security guards basically have no authority and if you wanted to get him in trouble you'd have to go file a real police report.

And of course the cops let him get away, they were only called there to keep the peace they literally don't give a shit, the dude may as well have run up to them and told them that Yaniv stole his sweetroll.
