Are we discussing emotional moments in video games feels, or just 'oh god I love this game so much' feels? Regardless, I will gladly divulge in two of my most recent occurrences.

EMOTIONAL FEELS:
Subject; Assassin's Creed ll.
Can I just begin with how I adore AC as a whole? There is literally something magical about the first time you air assassinate someone... Well, anyway. I remember the first time I played ACll, and witnessed the deaths of Ezio's family(NO I WILL NOT PUT SPOILER TAGS THAT IS FOR WUSSES BESIDES IT WAS IN 2010 AND THE FIRST THING THAT HAPPENED SUE ME). I can become immersed into literally anything, so when something hits me with emotion, it is very hard. I had a sister who had passed away, and despite not remembering it, it did hit me very hard. The entire set up comes just so quickly and unexpectedly that it is difficult not to have a response. Mine was, very obviously, holding back many tears. That event alone actually fueled me in taking Ezio out on his quest to quench his thirst for vengeance.

Subject; The Walking Dead by Telltale.
OH GOD I DO NOT WANT TO RELIVE IT. I am an incredibly moralistic guy, so I played Lee the same, which did punish me a bit. Ambivalence is usually punished in choice scenarios, but I will only take sides if it would help little Clementine(or if she was against it severely, such as taking a car with supplies. Granted I should have taken that to help her in the long run, but how can you say 'no' to her and feel content with yourself?). I ended up becoming incredibly attached to all of the characters who stuck by me, and I just did not want any of them to become hurt. As this game came out last year, I actually will not be a spoiler for it, because it is something a person simply must play and experience. I was in tears for...ahem, several days, admittedly when I actually finished it. Not only is Clementine the first video game child I do not want to throw into a garbage tin, she is just so...precious. Just thinking about the game is making my chest twist.

OMG THIS GAME FEELS:
Subject; Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance(Revising).
I am quite sure everyone has a general idea about how attached I am to this game right now(as I posted in this subforum and the music forum), and I probably get mocked for it. Mock me, I do not even care, the game is too damn fun for me to be butthurt over opinions. Red knows, I am a long time Metal Gear fan, and I was actually rather venomous toward Revising, what with its protagonist being Raiden, everyone's favorite Gary Stu punching bag, and it being a completely different style and approach to the series. Granted it was a spinoff, granted it was developed by Platinum Games...but I was still unconvinced to even touch it. But when it actually was released, and I seen some footage from it, I began to wonder if perhaps I should stop clinging to the norm and actually try out the game before tossing it aside. So I played the demo. I played the hell out of that demo. I literally think I played it a good thirty-two times before I actually had the funds to buy the game. Regret is non-existent. Yes, the story is political and goofy, yes, Raiden starts doing an awful impression of Christian Bale, but god damnit it is funny! Metal Gear has always been rather goofy. For heaven's sake, they had a man who shot bullet/trucker bees at you, how is this game any different? The gameplay is so smooth and crisp that I'm enthusiastic the entire time I pick up the controller; I love tearing out spines to get delicious cyborg gatorade. I love the over the top action sequences. I love the music(which is very important to me in any game. See: Disgaea, AC, etc.) that gets you pumped for every fight. And I especially love the boss battles. This game has some of the most interesting bosses. Monsoon, for example, is basically Buggy the Clown on steroids. His limbs can detach and assemble via magnetic force. Not only is that concept unique to me, as technology and magnets coming together is just 'how', it makes for a big fat troll.
nwet5u.jpg

Then there's Jetstream Sam, but if I start talking about him, we'll be here way longer. I had to cut Monsoon's section unfortunately short...
Seriously, I can talk about how fun the game is all day long. I was pleasantly surprised and I know I'm going to want to be buried with it.

Subject; Disgaea(the whole series)
Must I really get into this? Are you trying to make me late for work? My avatar(and personality/viewpoint similarities) is that of my favorite character in the game, I think that shows that I love it intently. Tyrant Valvatorez all day.

I get emotional rather quickly, so I have a fair amount of contributions to this thread. Having said that, I'll just restrict this post to a few now. I might end up posting more later on. To me, Spec-Ops: The Line was pretty much Feels: the game. It's not the typical feels though. You'd have to play it to understand what I mean by it, but this is the kind of game that will make you curl up into a foetal position and hate yourself in terms of story and storytelling. I really can't explain anything about it without spoiling it though, so I won't bother trying.

Also, Mass Effect 3. I get that people didn't like the ending (even if the re-done ending makes it all a bit better) but this game has by far the largest amount of feels of the series. Again, I'm not going to put any specific moments here since I don't want to spoil it, but goddamn some parts of this game really got to me.

I'll also agree with Walking Dead. If you never cry during your playtrough of this game, you probably have no soul.

Last game that made me cry my eyes out was Solatorobo, and I've already said plenty about that. Not sure if there's anything else. I don't actually play that many games despite all the free time I have these days.

Lots of people will say Nier is the most feels packed game in recent years and i partly agree with them, Nier is an emotional roller coaster and for me would easily take the title for this whole gen if it weren't for a little game called Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon.

In Nier the characters inhabit a dying world and the main character's actions lead to death, tragedy and feels; however the characters in Fragile Dreams inhabit a dead world burdened with an omnipresent melancholy interspaced with tragedy (Sai finding her own body, that god damn duck merchant, etc, etc, oh god etc...).

If anyone has a Wii and has the opertunity i recomend picking it up.

MOTHER 3 was a downright depressing experience. Can't have a feels thread without The Walking Dead or MOTHER 3, amiright? But seriously, in the first chapter, we see a man going insane because he's lost his wife in front of his sons, one of the sons getting killed in the act of revenge, and the other son blaming himself for both incidents. Then next chapter is peaceful enough. The the next chapter centers around an abused monkey.
Best part: the creator toned down the sadness of the game in the 16 year development process during the conversion from N64 DD to Gamboy Advance. I don't want to see the Nintendo 64 DD version of TaneTane Island, I heard it made playtesters depressed as hell.

Yeah, I came here to post about Spec Ops, but you beat me to it. Never has a game so affected me as Spec Ops: The Line. I felt like a really rotten person after playing it. Especially after the
white phosphorus
section. I literally felt like puking.

Despite that, I love Spec Ops for making me actually feel emotion during my gaming session. That doesn't happen too often.

That being said, I did cry at the end of Metal Gear Solid 3.

And the city of Columbia in Bioshock Infinite is truly a place of wonder. I really did feel like a kid at Disney World when I first loaded that game up. You know, the blatant racism and social prejudices of its citizens aside.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

I got this game as a birthday present just as my first year of secondary school (highschool) started, and it imprinted on me like few games ever have. For a guy whod until that point been almost entirely an RTS/FPS player my entire life this was both a brilliant change of pace and came bundled in a story and music coldly calculated to hit my nostalgia feelz for the rest of my days.

Dino Crisis 2
My first ever survival horror game, which was merely the sequel to a mildly obscure spin-off(kinda) of the resident evil games, and yet it instilled a true and honest love of blowing shit up, running screaming from hordes of monsters, and getting way, way too invested in the plot of games I play than is considered healthy, so much so that it inspired me to start creatively writing and was the game I ripped off to create my first groinshreddingly bad "novel" when I was 8.

Ape Escape 1

Out of all the mindless ps1 games I played as a little kid, this one stands out in my mind as the single funnest, most challenging, and most unique out of all those crappy, crappy games, so much so that 14 years after first completing it I was still able to wizz through it easily after digging it out of a crate alongside a decaying ps1.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

THE single greatest star wars game to have ever been created bar none, combining easy and addictively enjoyable gameplay with probably the best story I have ever seen in a game (or at least my very favourite) and had a wonderful mix of both extremely memorable characters and an extremely diverse and unique series of settings to ensure every detail of this game is seared to my subconscious. On the subject of the story, this is the sole game I have ever played whose story and big plot twist literally made my jaw drop, and remains to this day the standard on which I judge all stories in games. The sequel is awesome as well, but the fact the game makers were forced to rush production and leave huge amounts of the game uncut is a damn shame as it could easily have been equal to the first game if it had been allowed to get completed.

In fact one reason why I reacted with such nerdrage upon the announcement of the Old Republic MMO was because it meant they would never properly finish the KOTOR story...
and when I found out how they "finished" the storyline of these games I honestly wanted to cry tears of pure screaming hate at how badly they fucked it up beyond repair

The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind

My first elder scrolls game, I got it one christmas long ago and played it solidly without break for 8 hours before being dragged away from the computer. Its size, scale, and sheer awesomeness, as well as that feeling i had when I first stepped out into the world and looked at my surroundings and realized just how much I had been missing have made this game forever my favourite RPG tied with KOTOR and easily my favourite elder scrolls game. So much so that the mere humming of it's theme tune by some stranger on a bus is enough to make me smile and feel awesome inside.

Fallout 3

After getting this game I literally lay on the couch playing it for 24 solid hours and never regretted a second. it was like playing morrowind again for the first time, but with a storyline far superior and so much insanely fun and awesome shit to do, and even after 24 hours of playing, I had yet to even touch upon all the stuff I could do.

Warcraft 3

One of the main reasons I dislike WOW is because it fucked up any and every shred of grimdark awesomeness left by Warcraft 3, one of the funnest and most entertaining yet accessible RTSes ever made, but once again it is the story of the campaign which really gives me the nostalgia/epic feels as it was probabaly the first ever "Dark fantasy" fiction I was ever exposed to, and thus when shit went down in the game, it was an absolute shock to me and my sheltered notions of fiction.

Resident Evil 4

A game I played on my PS2 during a miserable, wet, and masturbation-induced-migrane (dont ask) camping holiday in Cornwall with my family, and one which has become the bar on which i measure all survival horror I play as well as the sole reason I did not drown myself in the camp's latrine.

Wild Arms

Played when I was 5-6 with my dad and my sister, while I remember very little (if anything) of the gameplay itself, the theme music of this game is enough to bring back happy memories of playing it when I was still an innocent little optimist, before catholic school turned me into a grizzled and pretentious cynic.

Out of all of these, the main unifying thread in my opinion is how hearing the soundtrack makes you feel. If hearing it has no effect on you, the game had no effect or impact on you, but if the music fills you with some vague form of emotion you have yourself a feelzy game.

I just finished "The last of us"

Gaming is my favorite hobby, I've been playing for years across virtually all formats, but for me personally this game has raised the bar in terms of narrative and emotional impact. Many games claim to be "mature" but they're really just juvenile power fantasies with excessive violence and swearing, but this game is properly grown-up. At no point does it pull its punches, It was an experience that will stay with me forever.

I always get this peaceful feeling when I walk around the forests of Cyrodiil in TES:IV. Something about the lush green tree's makes me feel at peace.

Amnesia always causes this feeling of terror in me. Possibly because I can't kill anything.

I cry everytime when Barbara's dragon, Ceres dies in Final Fantasy Dimensions. Vata, you bastard!!!! Heck, even the roars they make are frickin adorable.

I even cried in FFIII when a nameless Dark Knight in some dungeon gave me his sword before he died and I even shed a tear then. I think I still kept the sword.
