Last month, she complained on Trust Pilot that she paid $90 to Promolta but it wasn't boosting her YouTube views because the low-paid watchers in Venezuela let only 30 seconds of a video play and YT requires 60% of the video to run for it to qualify for greater exposure.

"I have some quality content and a following without them, but I wanted to up my views. ... She said that I would have to pay more money if I don't want the global exposure that I am now paying 90 dollars for. This is not global exposure. ... Look, if you can't at least steelman why these paintings are worth what they are Marissa, then you shouldn't be complaining about their value, especially when your art looks as fucking awful as it does. If you don't know why something is worth something to people (who actually forked over that much money) then you probably shouldn't just assume you know better than them if you can't at least properly represent why they bought it.

At the end of the day, people paid 46 million dollars for a Rothko painting for a reason that they held strongly enough to actually spend 46 million dollars. No one will ever spend anything close to that on a painting by Marissa because there is absolutely no conceivable reason to spend that much money on any of her art because it is all completely worthless.

God I've watched this video a few times now and something about it makes me laugh every time. The combination of her child like art filmed in such a stupid way with her child like piano-bashing in the background is just hilarious.

She definitely has an aesthetic, that aesthetic being the style of a severely disabled four year old.

Not a huge fan of Rothko myself, however, he explored color and light in ways other artists weren't at the time. Putting focus on the colors, shapes, and lighting offered a fresh perspective, that's why Rothko was famous. The paintings aren't meant to be seen in a photo and skipped by, you have to view them in person, in proper lighting, and give them an adequate amount of consideration in order to "get" them. Also, the art industry itself is often used to launder money.

Every time she doesn't get any offers at [current price], she assumes the price is too low and then changes it to [increased price].

She has absolutely no idea what value is, or what makes art valued. She understands money and bills now - learned over the past two years - but still cannot fathom why her value as a laborer and producer are so low. She values herself so highly, how can this be?

Other people, Marissa. Your value is judged by the market, not by yourself. You have no value in the market - no matter how relentlessly you self-promote - because your music and artwork are not likeable. They do not give pleasure to others; in fact, your art and music is more often interpreted as distinctly unpleasant. People won't pay anything for something they find unattractive or unpleasant.

But this could be an opportunity for you: people will sometimes pay a great deal of money indeed to avoid something unpleasant. You could make a giant art installation in a very public place, with your original compositions blasting over huge speakers, and you could tell people you won't leave and take all your artwork away unless you receive [insert some reasonable single day amount like $1,000]. You could get written up in Artweek for this innovative form of corporate art terrorism! Think of the publicity, and the money!

"I want attention" being Marissa's admitted goal in making her million-dollar art pitch, it's nonetheless worth noting that Rothko had been a working artist for more than two decades before buyers began taking much interest in his work.

He'd grown up poor. His father died shortly after the family emigrated from Latvia and Rothko sold newspapers to help his mother feed his siblings. He earned a scholarship to Yale, dropped out after a year, began drawing and studying art while doing other work, eventually taught art, and alienated his family by becoming a professional artist. His sibs thought he should take better paying work to help support his aging mother.

It wasn't until the 1960s that he became a noted artist, with his work added to prestigious museum collections and millionaire benefactors backing projects like the paintings for the Rothko Chapel in Houston. On Planet Marissa, Rothko painted one painting not nearly as snazzy as hers and made $46 million despite totally lacking her culturally superior genetics and cinematic composing talent.

She's SO butthurt about the Rothko painting selling at auction for millions, when he's a famous (dead) artist from the 50s and she's just a sad little psychotic nobody.

That's the key to being highly valued as an artist working in physical mediums though, being dead, once you die, no more of your work can be created. There is a finite amount of your work available to collect and people want to get their hands on it, that's what drives prices up and gives your work true collectable value. Many of the great master painters never knew success in their lifetimes.
