Genuinely the hardest hitting of any "actor" or whatever. I got sad and stuff when Robin Williams died for example, not enough to shed a tear though. But Coco's retirement (and I imagine Lulu as well for others) hit me entirely differently. And it's not even like she's fucking dying or even disappearing off the platform. I guess you can't really compare it though since watching movies/tv shows is radically different from following a vtuber and watching them on a near-daily basis.

Well that was a fun event, not as neatly organized and big as the sports festival obviously but still entertaining and wholesome nonetheless. Plenty of members interacting with ones they never interacted before, especially with the EN girls. I hopped from stream to stream hoping to catch everyone's pov and surprisingly each one of them had their own interesting moments, even the low profile sora-azki duo. But sadly my underdeveloped brain couldn't take in all the happenings at the same time so i decided to watch the committee's pov only.
one take away from the event is that the pekomiko rrat might be true after all. Not a single word to each other even when they're on the same call and miko uncharacteristically went silent when pekora came into the room.

They knew each other before joining Hololive, that's why they play that whole "rivalry" with them always fighting each other, they're friends IRL so it's simply a joke.
There might be a little jealousy from Miko's POV since she nearly gave up, her early career was very stagnant and she wouldn't even be here today if it weren't for the GTA V streams where she absolutely blew up, while Pekora has been trailblazing from day one, but other than that they are just like Korone and Neko, friends IRL who joined the same company.
It feels more personal, while we still only get an insight into their public lives, as you said, there's way more contact with them. Might also be easier to relate since most of them are common people who came from poverty (Kanata, Amelia), tragedy (Subaru, Ayame) and even everyday shyness (Korone, Pekora) so they're easier to relate to than some Hollywood superstars!

The PekoMiko rivalry you're talking about is playful though, the rrat is behind the scenes there's a real rift between them.
No specific fuel. People just think that if a famous pair suddenly decided not to overtly act their shipping trope over (insert time frame here), their friendship must be over and they have each other name in their book of grudge. On that topic, I'm hereby declare KanaCoco over because Kanata take Rushia over Coco to the festival and never drop into Coco voice chat even once. Coco also went quiet for 2 seconds when she see Kanata Minecraft model with Rushia too. You heard it here first.

Pekora while didn't struggle as miko or suisei. She really didn't stand out early on tbh. She was actually 4th in terms of sub within gen 3

While there are counter arguments to the rrat, the fuels keep pilling up.
There is one I noticed a while ago. On Pekora's stream where she build her lottery for the festival. She greet everyone except Miko. Granted, she was kinda busy at that time.
After the stream ends, there are some comments about the incident. Not long, those comments disappear. Some of those comments sounds like anti's comments than concerned fans.
I wonder how powerful is youtube report feature. Is it enough to make comments disappear?
If they have more moments like that Mario Party collab, I think the rrat will disappear.

if what the schizos on /vt/ are to go by, it all started from the christmas sleepover. Supposedly miko did something to pekora that night.
There are two theories, one where she molested her and two where she confessed her feelings for her. I found the first one to be too fucking stupid for it to be true, while it is no secret that she's a lesbian i doubt she dared to destroy their decade old friendship. The second one is more probable but same reason as the first one, it is unlikely she would jeopardize their current relationship by confessing.
Their last month mario party collab would've been sufficient to counter all of the rrats, but even then you could see the cracks forming if you look hard enough and the subsequent events that happened leading to today's festival fueled the rrats even further.
At the risk of sperging like a retard by getting too invested in other people's relationship behind the screen, i have to say that im hooked
