It's weird since as a fan of TW (been playing since first rome) Volound does make a lot of good points when comparing new to old total war. It's just if he wasn't such a head ass, people would probably be more inclined to agree with him. What's the old saying? You catch more flies with honey than vinegar?
Also I knew the second a remaster for the OG Rome was announced, he was going to bitch about it. Calling it a complete trainwreck though? That's disingenuous. Does the remaster have problems? You bet but stuff I hate like the UI being too small, running being on by default and the lack of an ability to remap controls are all circumventable, as has been pointed out.
It's odd he'd call it a trainwreck though, since the dude reviewed Rome 2, an actual trainwreck of a game on release. But I guess he's willing to lie to himself about the franchise being dead even though every successive TW game (except Troy but Epic Exclusivity lmao) has sold better than the last. Marvel vs Capcom is a dead franchise. Total War is bigger than it's ever been.

Weird thread and I'm excited to see some more. One thing I would suggest tho is putting the dox in the special spoilers, as is the rules. Honestly maybe take out some of the spoilers too. Spoilering spoilers just makes a lot of extra work for everyone.

I've seen this video fully while taking a shit, it's just him saying that he himself made a whole-ass company change shit because of him and his community.
Not saying that his arguments are invalid, him talking about games is probably the best things he can do, other than that, his opinions are commonly shared across the fanbase, but for some reason he likes to think he's the only brave soul to speak out against a big evil greedy corporation.
Also, here's a picture of Volound stating his age in his most recent (at the time of this post, basically the video at the first spoiler category.) video, no idea if this helps confirm anything since it's a fucking comment section but y'know whatever

Good OP, I actually wound up posting about him around the time of the 'State of Total War' video in the Youtube Autism thread and came to a similar conclusion, in fact I actually remember someone posting about 'Kiwi Farms having a field day with this one' or some shit like that in the comments to that video, I'll post a screencap if I see it again. One thing to note is that he refuses to play Warhammer TW outside of a couple of clips recorded to show off the (admittedly shit) lack of a reload animation on the musket troops. While his content generally has some decent commentary in it regarding game mechanics, it always seems to come from a pre-conceived notion of 'Shogun 2 best Total War' and that's basically it.
The guy seems to embody the 'reddit intellectual' mindset, the kind of 'debate me in real life' attitude that was fucking gay in 2014.
Honestly, the TW youtube community almost deserves its own thread entirely, given the autistic wars between Historyfags and Warhammerfags (PixellatedApollo springs to mind) and other gay drama. MELKOR for example is just sort of cringe to behold, even if the AI only content is mildly interesting:

Volound only ever argues on his own terms or in youtube/facebook comments. Despite the fact that even during IBS at it's height it was hard to find two brain cells to rub together I suspect Volound would have been raped had he ever got the idea to get involved. He has a hard time in any setting where he is not able to talk uninterrupted for 30 minutes or type 5 paragraphs. It really is the quintessential "keyboard warrior" trope.
