I agree with this part because DRL does seem to have a sound understanding of why they shouldn't be in the waifuism community.("The other waifuists are for the most part self centered and don't actually care about the user. You're a statistic to their views not a part of the cultish family.") Funny how the literal schizo has one of the most reasonable outlooks on the community from the inside. Also funny how I completely agree with that opinion after spending so long fighting for these people's attention because I was younger and stupid and I thought they'd actually care about my interests. Just for that reason alone I do feel bad for DRL because some of these people have clearly resigned themselves to the concept so hard that leaving the community won't do anything, but I think there's still a chance for this guy to escape it and come out alright. Or, at least as alright as their whole other host of issues can make them be.
I'm not extremely knowledgeable on this person so if there's an obvious reason why they haven't jumped ship on waifuism communities feel free to let me know, but I genuinely see it as the best way out for them at this point.

I don't think it's any connections, like having friends he doesn't want to leave. But he says a lot how Dead Rising is his sole reason for living. So I suppose it's the one place he can express himself even if he doesn't like the group. The game's actual community has bullied him, so he's not welcome there, and he doesn't have a friend group to talk to it seems. I think he doesn't leave because it's the one place he can let his passion be known.
I think it's really interesting seeing someone who is aware of how fucked the waifu community is, especially from a first hand point of view. He mentions how in one of the waifuism discords moderators deleted his messages when he talked about being suicidal and tried to pretend nothing happened, which is again, an interesting insight on how the community operates and how it treats members. They are so hyper obsessed with this squeaky clean image they will ignore members considering suicide and leave them to take a neckrope portal to anime world, all for the sake of providing that pure wholesome imagery. God I hate waifuism

To be fair, from what I've seen severe depression, emotional problems and suicidal behavior are all common place there. I think from the moderators and the admin's perspective it's draining to deal with all of that on a frequent basis. There may also be a concern of other members being adversely affected by seeing those logs, and potentially having their suicidality and depression affirmed as a result. I suppose they also justify ignoring these problems by saying their ill-equipped to handle them, and aren't licensed therapists or psychiatrists - which is true. (Side Note: The bolder members of the community tease the moderators that they disengage from the community and just lurk once they get moderator privileges)

But honestly I think these are just lame excuses.

The admin of the discord and the reddit: u/Sir_Waffles_ has said he's too lazy to make any meaningful change, and most of the moderators take up the same apathetic attitude, or are resigned to cynicism and the occasional passive-aggressive jest. They aren't interested in taking responsibility for their community, and they are not invested in their members as people; they just want yes men and women who reinforce their fantasies, and help them spread the cultic miasma of toxic positivity.

Yes, they do. Still it's completely different kind of media. Even if v-tubers have backstory, anime characters, it doesn't mean it's the same kind of experience as consuming fictional story. V-tubers are primarily streamers with a persona, an online celebrity behind anonymous avatar. You can interact with them in real time and behind of that avatar, they are just normal people playing normal games, and become irrelevant as soon as they drop the carrier. Which is completely different for characters from anime, manga or movies, etc.

This is just my hypothesis for why is it like that, but the bottom line here is that I've never seen any actual v-tuber waifuists who would stick to their waifu for more than a month or so. If you have, post them, but from what I've seen watching streams with tons of people who interact with a virtual girl is completely different kind of appeal. Something that doesn't seem to really resonate well with people who want to devote themselves to the idea of being in relationship with a fictional character.

I thought WaifuFag's post was informative myself, some of us don't have the time or the mental willpower to check the subreddit repeatedly and keep track of lolcows ourselves. i don't think people are unable to, it's more just, either it's not worth it, too obscure, or someone else has already done so.
I'll say to you what I said to you before: Kiwi Threads are a collaborative effort. If you feel content is lacking from a thread, why not add it yourself?
And if you feel a post adds nothing worthwhile to a thread, report it. Jannies do actually remove posts that are meaningless.
Some people do just come here to see the reddit content, they don't browse reddit themselves or don't spend the time to do so. I would hope not everyone here feels the need to check r/waifuism daily. And when you add in the spin off communities like WaifuismOver20, WaifuismNSFW, WaifuRelationship, 2dLove, Fictosexual, etc...
