Was Chris better off a few years ago? -

I know Chris has always been a sad loser but I can't help but feel like he was a better off a few years ago. Granted he did nothing but play vidya and make shitty comics but he at least seemed somewhat happier: he enthused about Sonichu, had a vague idea of his future (become comic book artist, find a boyfriend-free girl) and was able to swing to the Game Place for some sort of human interaction.

Nowadays, I feel really bummed out when I come across his posts and Da Update. He seems on the brink of madness as well as thoroughly depressed. Possibly as he's stuck with :snorlax: and Bob (the closest thing he had to a serious parent) has gone to the great lumberyard in the sky.

Granted the lolz have dried up a lot as well; instead of dealing with a deranged but arrogant and entertaining man-child, we have a dude in his 30s who spoons with an elderly lady amidst The Hoard. Which is a lot more Norman Bates and depressing that the days of OPL.

I dunno: does anyone else think Chris was better off in the Old Days, even while being trolled mercilessly?

He was better off when Bob was still alive, sure. Chris is just going to get worse and worse, the video when he was at his best was his Future Message, but even then you knew he wasn't right.

As sad as Chris is, remember he had a lot of people try to help him over the years, but he wanted nothing to do with them. I'm exaggerating if I said he could walk away at any minute, but much of what Chris is going through is his own doing.

yes he was better off, but only in the sense that he hadn't dug his hole as deep as it is now.

The only way he is better off is that he has fewer places he's allowed to cause trouble now. But as far as his life goes, every day is another step towards nothing.

18th birthday party was the peak and then it was all downhill from there. How anything else can even be argued to the contrary of that, I can't even begin to fathom?

I'm sure he would think so. When Chris was in his late teens to early 20s, he still thought all his dreams would come true, it was just a matter of waiting for Godbear to personally deliver his sweetheart, and a successful Sonichu franchise. The farther he gets from those optimistic days, the less hope there is. His dreams of the future, and even of the past, are crumbling around him now. Someday soon he'll realize that he'll never get those things he wanted because he was sitting around waiting for them instead of working towards his goals, and now it's too late to have the happy life he dreamed of. *sigh*

He was better off in that he was more naive and happier.

Now he's slightly (like a teensy bit) less naive and depressed.

Other than that his life is just as shitty as it ever has been sans Bob, we can all just see the end from here is all.

Pretty sad when your "dream" is to have an office job and a daughter names crystal (stripper name) and you are no where close to either. Simplest dream ever.

I'd say so. At least a few years ago he wasn't embittered about everything around him (not everything anyway). Right now he's fast coming to the grim realisation that he has nothing that he felt entitled to back then, and he's not going to get it either. There's no office job, there's no Crystal, there's no Sonichu. All there is now is his age catching up on him and a house full of aged shit from (somewhat) better years long gone by.

He was better off a few years ago because Bob was still alive. His father, while very flawed, acted as the closest thing to a voice of reason in that mad house and did at least try to keep Chris from completely tarding out. Since his death the only thing that's been keeping Chris in line has been his mother's empty threat of changing the locks if he attempts to leave without her permission. Because of that the constant exposure to the hoard and it's master has been eating away at what little mental well being he has left.

For me the saddest thing is just how broken Chris seems. At least before I almost admired how irrepressible he was. Even after abuse, he'd just bounce back. He was a lulz cow. Now he's just a shell of a man whose life is only slightly worse but he's far more down about it.

I think that's probably the worst part of his current situation. His life is kinda sad and hollow right now, even his precious High School memories have turned sour on him. In '09 he was smug as all hell when he thought he had the copyright for Sonichu. In 2013, I'm unsure if even something like the Life Upgrade 4 will spark some kind of joy in him. Not that it'll stop him buying it on launch day.

Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and I was still in high school I used to attend my church's youth group. We'd come every Friday, hear a message and then play pool, vidya, ping pong, or just chill in this social room they had in the church. Simple set up. But alot of fun. Shortly after I started going regularly I started noticing some big problems that, while not urgent at the time, would wreak havoc in the future. I won't bore you with the details but amongst other things there was this mandate that no one in the group was allowed to date anyone else in the group and dating in general was essentially evil. I warned our Youth Pastor and several others about not only how creepy this was but the problems we'd run into later on.

Of course no one listened to me and slowly but surely more and more extreme situations arose. Including but not limited to: Several people getting jumped, firearms and drugs being brought to the church, a few attempted (and one successful) orgies by the church youth, Oral Sex performed during service, and someone lighting the church's gas tank on fire with me and numerous others still in it. I haven't been to the Church in almost 3 years because I moved to another part of the world but the problems have only gotten worse.

Why did I tell you this random ass story? You ever see a problem coming in the near future, call it, and see said problems come to fruition and worsen over time? Thats Chris is a nutshell. Anyone could tell that the bright eyed 20 something man child who first surfaced onto the internet around 07 IIRC, was headed toward a bad end if he didn't change immediately. He didn't and know we're seeing him encounter some of these more serious problems such as extreme depression, loneliness, and facing the prospect of dying alone. None of these things were a reality to Chris when he first surfaced because his daddy and mommy were still taking care of him and letting him live in a fantasy world. Now, his father is dead, his mother doesn't have many years left, he has no friends (online or otherwise), and hes facing the very real and very scary prospect and living out the rest of his days in lonely filth.

So yes, Chris was better off years ago because he still had a chance to meet reality face to face instead of having it kick the door in, beat the shit out of him and leave him to spoon with Barb.

TL;DR: Yes, and unless he changes today or tomorrow he'll be better off now than he will be in a few years.

Chris was happier because the universe hadn't yet come crashing down quite as much.

People were saying all the way back at the beginning how awful his life would turn out to be. It seems almost surreal how correct everyone was, but there you have it.

He was thinner, younger, had more hair, had a sane parent still alive and his look was eccentric rather than frightening. He was much happier.

I think Chris needs a more cartoony environment to be happy. Back in the day, he was his own super hero basically. He dressed up in his costume each day (the classic shirt, medallion, and jeans) and went to do battle with the forces of evil that were out to destroy him. He fought evil men stealing his sweathearts, a guy out to steal his identity, and a certain individual (who we all know and love) who was creating a comic character mocking his creations. He even did battle with his world's own version of a supervillian, Clyde Cash. He then would write out his victories in his comics. In his world everyone was jealous and were out to steal his creations and boyfriend free girls.

It was all fake, of course, but he didn't know this. For years he played to nearly every insane plot against him because he's a total moron and was convinced it was all real. The great CWC was destined for greatness, his own cartoon, vidya game, and merchendise. He just had to beat the bad guys and become the hero. That stupid idea that he was going to be a hero and a big deal gave him the motivation in his life.

But, as you all know, he slowly discovered everything that happens to him on the internet was a sham and things started going downhill. He started getting lonely because he has no friends. Then Bob went to the big lumber mill in the sky and it came down to him and Barb. He got more lonely, paranoid, and became angry and depressed. Basically the real world slowly has overtaken his cartoon and he doesn't understand how the real world works. His life is far shittier then it used to be and it still has a long way to go before it might get better.

Brother, Chris was certainly better off a few years ago. He was happier and had Bob to somewhat keep him in line. However, what Chris really needs now, is the Hulkster to keep him in line with the training, the prayers and the vitamins. The Hulkster could turn Chris into a Hulkamaniac. Chris could still turn his life around, man. With the Hulkster there to motivate him, Chris could do a lot still.
