Star Wars had Darth Vader atleast which was a tribute to Samurais. And bad guys is basically influenced by WW2. To begin with i didnt like Star Wars. Mainly 4-6, because i didnt see big deal about it. But hearing what George Lucas had plans for 7-9 (just a shame he never got to finish it, since it would complete the series if he did) but it made me realise how much of a genius he was. Also the fact that the concept of human mind in general. Also the fact that Star Wars 3 subtext is basically the way a democracy falls is when people lose trust in the system, and thats usually when a tyrant comes up and seizes that power. So i really admire how much of a genius he was.Isn't he just a Jawa? They had Jawas in the original Star Wars a.k.a. Episode IV: A New Hope too.
I'm not entirely sure where the hooded spectral character with a void face and glowing eyes archetype started but I suspect it predates Star Wars and, considering how much Star Wars borrowed from Japanese culture, it may even have been some type of mythical being like a youma to begin with.
I think they are self aware. If you have played Final Fantasy 1. You have elves, dwarves... and literally a guy named "Mr.Underhill". Only thing lacking are hobbits. But FF1-FF3 i kind of do admire to some degree, mainly because i think Nasir Gebelli is a cool guy!"Inspired", more like blatantly stolen. I hope George Lucas sues Square into bankruptcy, wins the Final Fantasy IP in the settlement, then sells it to Disney for another billion bucks. Someone tweet this thread to him ASAP.

As for where the robed wizards came from. Wouldnt surprise me. Star Wars episode 4 came out in 1977 same year as the animation movie "Wizards" came out that also had those type of beings in them.
The idea of robed dudes with glowing eyes wasn't original Lucas didn't come up with it.The original Star Wars was filmed in 1976, though, and George Lucas started writing the script in 1973.
