If I remember right, I think they were made by some old woman (mother nature?) and a stork brought them to the village... maybe? Fuck if I remember.
All I remember is that one episode had Papa Smurf (the old one with the red clothes) find his parents who he was separated from centuries ago, which I guess means Smurfs used to fuck but they lost their last female or something, so they had to start mass producing them artificially. So I guess this means all smurfs except Papa Smurf are artificial? This smurf loretism goes deeper than I thought.

That's probably true. I don't really know much about Smurfs myself, just stuff I picked up back in the 2000s from nerd websites like SA and I-mockery, about how the Smurfs were blue communists or something.
I guess Sassette could be a dyke, yes. I'll have to defer to the expertise of more knowledgable sources on this one.
