All the evidence seems to be that gays are born that way and conversion therapy is a massive scam.
It depends. There are definitely some people who are 100% flaming from the minute they exit the womb, but I think there's a substantial number of bisexuals among them (i.e. people who are less than 100% in either direction) where it makes sense to talk about choosing your sexuality.

Born This Way™ or not. I'm not convinced there's evidence for a 'gay gene' but I'm still very skeptical that conversion therapy would ever work. Stuff like sexuality is so deeply unconscious that it would take years of real psychodynamic therapy with an excellent therapist-client relationship to even get close to touching it in a significant way. And, even once your awareness of your unconscious is such that you can touch it, it's not an on-off switch that you can flick from 'gay' to 'straight'. Some patterns of attraction may change but changing sexual orientation is unrealistic for all but the tiniest minority of people IMO & IME.

There are some cases of the homosexual men falling in love with women. That shows that there is some plasticity in regards to sexual/romantic attraction. Women are known to be more sexual fluid in that regard. A good recent example is Michael Bararo who left his husband for his female co-worker. The couple recently had a child. In the Philippines, it's not uncommon for gay men to have loving, romantic relationships with women.

Love is not the same thing as sexual attraction or orientation. Many gay men love women in many different ways; I don't doubt that some of them can get sexually involved. Likewise there are guys who used to consider themselves straight and fuck women, and now exclusively fuck men. Gay men usually are dealing with a huge Mother complex - it's unsurprising that certain types of women will be very attractive to them (hence the archetypal gay best friend companion for a women) and they will want to love, hold, etc them. But they still want to fuck men, even if a very small minority can get it up for 'their girl'. It's not the same thing as heterosexual orientation towards wanting to fuck women.

Maybe, but that's wrong with that? To be honest, the majority of heterosexual men have let themsevles go,. There is nothing really appealing about being a heterosexual man.
Whether it's appealing or not is beside the point because if you aren't, you aren't and nothing's really going to change that.

not true, but even if it were true, if conversion therapy included electric chair torture or having you bitten with black widows and nearly dying before they give you the antedote I'm thinking a lot more people won't be willing to be gay. If the torture included a single lash for every sexual partner the faggot had most would receive upwards of 500 and die, and also not be gay and not be inclined to be gay.
No, that wouldn't work. You'd get them to not have sex with the same gender, you'd get them to change their behavior, but you can't fix their sexuality any more than you can fix their pupil dilation rate.

Even if it is not genetic and it is because of social influences, your brain has become hardwired. In general, our early years are extremely important for our development. Trying to change orientation is like trying to unlearn how to talk. Unfortunately, due to the massive leftist dominance of most psychological and psychiatric institutions, there is not any serious research on trying to cure or reduce homosexual urges.
