Not gonna lie, I'm super happy to see this thread since very shortly I'll need to be thinking about losing baby weight.

Although at the rate I've been going the last few weeks with my pregnancy weight (I keep fluctuating between 210 and 213 due to the GMD) I may just be support for a bit and not a loser while I catch up on all my much-missed foods... lol.

I'm built like a football player but I am concerned about my weight. Currently trying to get lose around 40 pounds right now and reach 210 (have lost 5 thus far). Thing is, I'm physically strong but have self-esteem issues.

Does one have to be overweight to participate in this thread? I'm not really overweight, but i'm all about supporting people who are trying to better themselves.

Also, 7 lbs in a month is really good. Keep it up.
Thank you,

Yes, of course you can!

About 6 months ago I had started taking a certain psychiatric medication, so now I'm much more functional!...

Unfortunately, that same medication made me gain 25 lbs. So now I'm overweight/"voluptuous." *sigh*
You're not alone, that's what I'm sort of going through right now, except its technically two medications. My medication is starting to make me gain weight so I've been trying to cut down. Frozen fruit or any fruit for dessert to be honest really helps. Exercise isn't really as fun as it used to be. I really gotta take back up pole dancing again (the kind of poledancing that was more acrobatic and gymnastics on a vertical bard for exercise, but yes, Dun, you lucky boy), I still remember how to hang upside down and I can probably still do it. It's just that well, it tends to be a bit expensive paying for lessons from the one studio I was at. Even so, I freakin enjoyed it. I could probably also get some pole dancing instructional DVDs or something since I do still have my pole in my closet. I just need to find a good exercise setup.

I do like exercising when riding my bike or hiking or just doing stuff outside away from my house so I don't get tempted to be like "I wanna go veg online on my computer!" because then if I want to do that I have to ride up huge hill to my house. I may not be quit overweight again yet, but I don't want to be. It took me a lot of effort to lose all of this weight my sophomore year of high school.

Today, I took a reeeeeally long walk with my dog who was happy.

I used to weigh 190 lbs. and gained over 130 lbs. on psych meds, so I know how it feels.

I went to the doctor about 4 weeks ago and weighed 323 lbs. I'm hoping to be under 315 by the end of October when I have my next appointment.

I went to the gym today and went on the treadmill (20 minutes) and lifted weights.

I plan on going to the gym 5 days a week and lifting weights Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

I'm avoiding fast food and sweets, and did well today.

That's great! Part of my weight gain was also medication related, over 50 pounds of it actually. My doc told me I needed to loose weight or she would take me off it, that's what really motivated me to restart my weightloss process. A few years ago, I starved myself to size 12, but eventually when I started eating like I had been, I gained it almost all back. This time, I want to do it right and learn how to control my eating habits to where I'm not starving or overeating.

I got a bad ankle now, so I'm just cutting back on food. Once it's better ill get back to the gym.
My boss asked me if I'm losing weight, so I got that.
Injuries suck.

Just remember Pikonic's words, "If ya ain't dead, it ain't too late to lose weight"
Heh that rhymed.

Yeah, my psychiatrist constantly nags me to exercise more to manage my stress and to make sure I don't gain a shitton of weight from my meds.

My biggest obstacle in weight loss is I'm also trying to get off cigarettes, that's not easy. Weight gain for former smokers is pretty common. The e-cig is helping too (I know Dude is using vaporizers, and he says its helping him)

Recommendation I can throw out for anyone who's trying to lose weight through food first before they start an exercise plan: cut back on carbs. My husband's been on the same diet I've been (again, thanks gestational diabetes) and he's actually lost something like seven or eight pounds from just being on a restricted carb diet with more veggies and water.

Argh, that's my weakness, carbs. I have a horrible sweet tooth! :(
Have you tried carab?
Also, carbs are not the definite evil, just make sure you run them off.

Exactly. You need some carbs, just like you need some fats. Just make sure that you're being wise about them. For example I've gone pretty much entirely whole grain, and I have only 30g of carbs at breakfast, between 45 and 60g for lunch and dinner, and 20g for snacks.

And carab is a good substitute for chocolate if that's your vice.
