I've also found that holding my breath as long as I can, then having a deep exhale and holding another deep breath a few times can also help hiccups go away if you don't have anything to drink. But the drinking thing works too!
Agree, that is exactly what I do. Force as much air into the lungs as possible then start gulping and swallowing more air into them until it burns and then hold your breath for as long as possible, then repeat. It doesn't hurt to drink a glass of water or two on top of that, I mean, it hurts a little...

Why not rose hips? Rose hip soup I can understand, vitamin c breaks down at 60c/140f but gram-for-gram they have eight times more vitamin c than oranges. They're also rich on dietary fiber.
Not sure, I just heard it was better to use the kind with asorbic acid only and no additives which might disrupt the intended effect of inducing a period or miscarriage. I only mention rose hips specifically because that's the listed extra ingredient you see on the labels a lot

Aah, I meant eating dried rose hips or putting them in a smoothie. I get your point, though I thought that maybe, just maybe, you were thinking of rose hip oil. That one will only cause a miscarriage shooting out of your ass and mouth.

Where I'm from rose hips are eaten in some for or another, dog rose might not be the prettiest rose but it produces the best ones and the bushes survives outdoor winters where it gets below -40 with no problem, they should also be picked after the first frost hits and in warmer climates that's not possible or the frost comes too late in the year.

It's mostly eaten as a soup and the soup is a staple in kindergarten. I prefer breaking down crisp rye bread into it but here's one with a piece of vanilla ice cream, that's also good.

Or it can be served in a cup/glass, cold or hot, that's good too. I've never tried mixing it with booze though, hm...

I'm pretty sure they sell it(nyponsoppa) at IKEA's all over the world for anyone curious to try it without committing to picking them and learning the harsh lesson of why gloves should be worn then cleaning them.

I was given rose hip tea in Japan for a really nasty cold. It was horribly bitter and tart but damn if it didn't do something.

I get recurring night time headaches and migraines so on top of painkillers I deeply inhale super strong peppermint scent. Ideally an essential oil (cheap Target shit fuck pyramid schemes) but toothpaste can work in a pinch. I hate that it works.

Anything with a decent amount of ginger in it is a fantastic anti-emetic and stomach soother. There are ginger pills they make for combating seasickness that work well for any sort of upset stomach. It doesn't hurt that I love stuff like Vernors or Bundaberg.

Caffeine is fairly addictive and can screw with your mood a bit, but it's a fantastic appetite suppressant if you're trying to keep calorie counts low (or if you're like me and prefer to do fasting aerobic first thing in the morning)

Honey (actual honey, not that flavored syrup knockoff shit they sell at Dollar Tree or whatever) possesses antimicrobial properties. As part of a cup of honey and lemon tea (or just straight up by spoonful) it's fantastic at clobbering sore throats and other cold symptoms. Properly prepared it's a passable local antiseptic, though this is more of a "nothing else around that's suitable" scenario.

Alcohol isn't really good for you per se, but it is also very good at kicking the crap out of a throat infection as a gargle as long as the proof is high enough. (It can also irritate throats with prolonged exposure, so don't go full alkie.) Listerine will work as well but I'd rather taste bourbon than fucking Listerine.

Spicy stuff in general is great at bolstering appetite for some reason. It can also be good for your insides though it can burn like devil's fire on the way out.

I always used a packet of sugar (or small teaspoon full) to get rid of hiccups. You have to pour it on your tongue and swallow it all before it begins to dissolve.

Got hiccups?

Take a paper towel and a glass of water. Wrap the paper towel over the opening of the glass and drink the water through the paper towel. I gaurentee your hiccups will be gone.

If you have hiccups that won't stop, slam your elbow into a wall or pinch the fuck out of something on you. Make it hurt to the point of tingling. I'm not kidding.

Chances are, they'll leave you after this. It's always worked for me, and worth it in the long run.

Pom Bar crisps are awesome for settling an upset stomach. I have no idea how it works, but it does every single time.

If anyone in our family had a cold or the flu, my mum used to give us hot m.ilk with a shot of whiskey in it, an a small pat of butter floated on the top. Even the little kids.

Gripe water used to be a regular over the counter cure for babies with colic, and it worked really well - probably because it was mostly alcohol, and what wasn't alcohol was fennel. They took the alcohol out of the formula now though, so it's just herbal shit that doesn't work.
I saw this as "Porn bar crisps" and my mind went in a totally different direction.

For any and all throat issues:

1. Drink a healthy swig of vodka or your alcohol of choice, it has to be 40%+ ABV at least.
2. Rinse your throat with a strong brew of sage
3. Repeat 4-5 times

If it's a bacterial infection then the strength of alcohol combined with the cleaning and soothing properties of sage will get rid of any bacterial in a day. This worked for me even when I was running a high fever, so weak that I had to lean on walls to stand straight.
If it's a viral infection this won't do shit, but after clearing out half a bottle of good stuff you can claim a moral victory at least.

Squirt (a grapefruit flavored soft-drink). My mom's cure for anything and everything. I could come into the house and say "Mom, I just cut my arm off with a chainsaw!" And she'd be like "Oh here honey, have a Squirt, that'll make it better."

Amazingly enough, I still drink Squirt today... as a splash on top of my vodka.
