What are Samsungs even good for? -

I have a SM-S102DL device running Android 10. All the newer Samsung US releases have bootloader locked by default. In other words, you cannot root them due to this software called KG state/RMM state. It's literally to make it impossible for developers to launch their own OSes.

If you were to navigate to developer options, you will find that there is no OEM unlock option. I heard that you could make it appear through external methods, but it won't function properly. So you can't unlock the bootloader from the start.

There is this other phone (Galaxy J7 Prime) that developers have found a workaround for, but even then it is a very tedious process. The only way you can "root" the newer Samsungs (like any Android OS after Oreo) is by installing an APK like x8 Sandbox (x8sb.com) or VMOS (vmos.com) that'll create a custom ROM in a virtual machine for you to root without rooting your actual device.

Overall, iPhones are better. The developer apps are a lot cooler (like AppValley) and they come with a lot more privacy/security features. On Android, all you have is ACMarket, which occasionally crashes and doesn't work.

I don't know, are there any cool APKs and other developer apps oriented for privacy/security to unGoogle your Samsung as much as possible or should you just throw it in the trash?

Stop buying Samsung, they suck. You're retard assumption that Samsung = Android is why you have having so many problems. Buy a Motorola phone, you can unlock the bootloader no problem and load ROMs if you want. I have a Motorola z4 and their z line has the ability to slap "moto mods" on the back. The biggest plus to that is getting battery packs to slap on.

I haven't bought a Samsung since the Galaxy S3. Of course, that was also the last time I fucked with ROMs because it was always a worse experience than the stock due to broken/unsupported hardware features. I don't even bother rooting anymore, it's not worth the hassle for what? To run some special app to do what? Computers are easier to deal with, fuck smart phones. I hate having to do everything via touch screen.

I wasn't implying it was Android. I was saying any Samsung made after Oreo has been like this.

Motos are the shit. The G power series make fantastic marathon phones, and the batteries last forever since they only need charged every 3-4 days.

I loved my Z play, and I'm still disappointed that Motorola never bothered making a Z4 play with a bigger battery.

Samsung flip phones were great (small enough to fit in my front pants pocket and it survived many drops onto pavement) and I'd still use mine if Bell Canada hadn't shut down the network it used.

Their Blu-Ray players were terrible. I had to replace mine with a Toshiba less than a year after getting it.

Samsung Pay let's you use Samsung NFC coils to broadcast the electromagnetic signature of a credit or debit card so that you can use your phone to pay for things at virtually any credit card terminal. No need to worry about Bluetooth or chil related bullshit. It's literally just a virtual magnetic strip broadcast strong enough so a standard card reader thinks you swiped an actual card.

Yes, lets take the weakest form of payment, the magnetic strip, and broadcast it loudly over wireless. This couldnt POSSIBLY fuck up.

Security, whats that?

I feel like you should already know better than to acknowledge that there are Android OEMs other than Samsung and then still say iPhones are better than Androids based on Samsung alone.

Samsung brands itself as the Android version of Apple. Their last good phone was the Samsung Galaxy S5, which also happens to be their last phone with a removable battery. They've been very restrictive towards their phones ever to look like a luxury brand.

This is a security measure, which is highly encouraged by cybersec researchers. As I much as I quite like my rooted phone, I have to admit it's very vulnerable since attackers have direct access to the Android kernel. You should only root if you want more freedom to tinker with your phone or if you want your phone last more than 5 years, not to improve security.

If you want an Android phone that allows you to tinker as much as possible, I recommend the ASUS Zenfone 6/7, if you can get one since ASUS have no idea how to sell their phones. They've been quite generous with releasing tools and the bootloader for the Android custom ROM community.

I fully admit my negritude on this topic.
How are these for security/privacy compared to custom firmware on a regular Android? Does it have less bloatware and more admin functions since it's business-oriented?
