Hey everyone,
I'm just curious about what baffles/fascinates/interests you the most about Chris's behavior. Whether it was his old delusions that he had literally over a billion fans (there aren't a billion Star Wars/James Bond fans out there), or how he believes that his singing voice is somehow on par with Bing Crosby/Frank Sinatra, or who knows what else.
The thing that baffles me the most is his attitude towards his artwork. The thing about Chris that damaged me the most is how my ability to judge artwork has crashed since I first got wind of the guy. After seeing what an absolute disaster of a comic he had, other people's art, no matter how lame, seemed downright awesome by comparison. I'm someone who wants to at least become a moderately good illustrator, and I can't bring myself to look at Chris's work for too long because I feel like I might end up drawing like him, and that actually scares me.
But it isn't simply that his art is so bad, it's the quality that he thinks it is. I mean he really does believe that it is so professional that it is on par with the best artists working for Marvel or Archie comics, and how he managed to slam other people's work so hard even when they're doing it purely as a gift to him. Take for example the fan drawing of Rosechu and Sonichu in formal wear. When he brought it up and 'yeah... it's OK, could be better, you got the tail wrong' and then he redrew the 'superior' version that looked like a child's imitation and said it was corrected with a straight face. I can't possibly fathom how he could do that. I'm not a very good artist (in no small part due to the fact that I barely draw), but I just can't wrap my mind as how he could possibly think his work is the coolest thing since sliced bread.
