Actually, Marvin and I were just now discussing this very idea. I think Chris may actually view his life in the form of "sagas" similar to how we do; I'm sure he has completely different demarcation points, but I think the general idea is the same. I want to find out what those are.

Remember that the one rock he clung to these 13 years was high school being a magical time where he had friends and potential gal-pals and was loved and respected and cherished by many, etc. He based his entire outlook on life on that bedrock.

Then he heard that people only hung out with him out of pity.

The foundation of his life was removed and what sat on it was not capable of supporting itself. Everything he ever told himself about "but at least high school was great!" was made irrelevant. His life has been shown to be a lie.

I assumed 1 chapter = 1 year, and he's counting both middle school and high school. But I don't think I've ever heard Chris talk about how cool middle school was.

Alec-- the forum has joked at various times about now being in "the Facebook saga," but I think that's valid -- and a lot of his behaviors, aka the content, are coming straight from him (of course, if I'm wrong, Marvin should feel free to step in and correct me).

I was actually just thinking four years of high school, two semesters per year -- his beloved Goosebumps books have short chapters, don't they? So the entirety of high school could be eight "chapters."
