I mean if we’re talking about sheer physical might, obviously world governments win out. A few targeted nuke strikes, and Silicon Valley simply wouldn’t *exist* anymore. But just because Facebook doesn’t have nukes, doesn’t mean it’s not powerful in its own ways.I disagree. If Putin wanted Zuckerberg dead then Zuckerberg would be dead. I doubt Zuckerberg could kill Putin.
The point is that the government, while theoretically capable of retaliating in such a manner, really *can’t* without losing all legitimacy in the eyes of the people, while tech companies can basically do whatever the fuck they want, and have the ability to brainwash people without the victims even realizing they’re falling for it.
Basically tech companies and world governments are powerful by different metrics of the word, in ways that can’t be directly compared.
