Why would the devil hate his own?
I unironically believe the ultra-rich's goal is to ultimately get us into some shithole cyberpunk dystopia. The only real difference is we probably wont be getting any "cool" gadgets at all. So it's probably going to be cyberpunk without the cyber.
Forget about race, nation, or politics since it doesn't matter to them in any way except getting us there. America could be 100% black in 10 years or 100% white they wouldn't give a fuck as long as they can lord over the rest of the plebs for the rest of their lives with infinite profit margins.
They are just pandering to the left currently because they know who blindly consooms the most product and who gets the most gibs. This is also why they pander to the left despite the left claiming to "hate" them and wanting to remove the wealth of the rich for gibs. Infact they love gibs since it's the governments money keeping their workers alive, while they can have a permanent worker class that has no social mobility getting peanuts. This is why they pushed Corona lockdowns so hard. It's the destruction of the little guy which removes all competition, and keeps the poor poorer.
We haven't gone totally off the deep end yet, but if the 1% keep consolidating power something like a "cyberpunk" world could start to form before the end of this half of the century.
Eats the bugs, live in a pod, consoom soy, and most of all CONSOOM PRODUCT.
This is not a plan just for the west, but for us all.

I think the closing of sites like GeoCities and independent forums could be part of the push to centralize the internet under bland huge corporate sites where everything is censored and made to fit The Narrative.

Edit: to expand upon my statement , to stage a shooting you need alot of people and alot of moving parts , and thats alot of people that can turn snowden and blow the lid on it , and if they did BOOM now the entire US goverment is in shambles and now thousands of high ranking members are getting arrested/killed. Its alot less work and a whole lot easier to cover up if you just let something happen , no need to fund/train , just let a loon kill people and boom , same end goal.

Although if you need a specific kind of shooting there is always the possibility of using someone expendable to do it. There is no real need to do it with fake victims because there are plenty of people who don't care about real victims.

While I get where you're coming from and you or I might do just that, think about this.
Since you mentioned Snowden, there's an estimate of 30-40,000 employees at the NSA. Going to the high end, that's 39,999 people who were absolutely fine with doing what the NSA does. The odds aren't good when you're at the levels that require a whole lot of "patriotism" for the "good of the country."
to be fair what the nsa did , while pretty evil , is not the same as training and funding someone whos main goal is to kill other unarmed americans , so i think even with a much smaller amount of people it would still get outted by a snowden like person.
I believe that certain conspiracy theories were intentionally created to delegitimize otherwise rational criticism.
