This is an interesting question, because it would offer a lot of insight as to how he understood growing up and how he understood adult responsibility as a child. What exactly were his childhood ambitions? I mean, most of us knew at some indeterminate point in the future that we would have to start working and move out of the house. Was this a thought that ever crossed Chris's mind as a child? I'm willing to bet Bob or Barb never put this kind of pressure on him and that's how we ended up with a 31 year old Lego player.

There was that picture he drew of him working in Pokeball factory, with the other half of him sitting in his clown wear, with his sweetheart and his mini me watching television, but I think he may have been in his teens when he drew that one

I bet his whole perspective of adult life was just cobbled together tropes. Nondescript job. Nuclear family. But no actual thought or motivation towards anything real.

Nice you beat me to it.

When he was young boy he had no concept of the future or the urge to make any plans, just like a animal living by the day. He started to have an insight of the future in his MHS days, for the looming and dire reality of the graduation. Also because of the simpsons/flintstones and all aspergy cartoons he may have been watching then he formed this cartoony idea of the adult life.

Wouldn't it be funny of he wanted to be a policeman?

It's ineteresting to see that he never seemed to ever state the whole "I want to be ______ when I grow up!". Most children voice the aspirations they have for when they're adults, it's interesting that Chris never seemed to go through that. Hell, maybe if he had some aspirations he would have selected to attend something else at PVCC, instead of going with something Bob picked for him.

The cwcki list his occupations as:

Freelance comic book artist/writer/videogame designer (unpublished)

Wendy's employee (2001)

Cutco salesman (2003)

Male escort (2010, unpaid)

A pretty impressive resume of fail, quite diverse.

While other kids of ten dreamed of being firemen and doctors and skydivers and purveyors of excitement and adventure, Chris dreamed of having an office job.

Which, really, wouldn't be so tragic if he knew that "office job" is not an occupation in and of itself.

Hey that's what I wanted to be too. Ahhh memories.

As for Chris, I think he was too stupid to even think about his future. :alog:

Plus, thanks to bad parenting he was probably convinced at a young age that he was some type of god-like being.

I don't think he wanted to be anything, because he didn't want to grow up. All he's ever wanted to do is sit and play with his toys whilst everybody else grows up for him.

Bizarrely, Chris is kind of living his life in reverse. We all start off as Children and gradually mould (or attempt to mould) ourselves into our ideal state. Chris started life in his ideal state, and has been gradually getting further and further away from it, despite his best (lack) of efforts.

Just my two red cents.
