What gear are you sporting? -

Just a preface: this thread isn't only for musicians, feel free to talk about your speakers, headphones, gramophones - any kind of musical equipment!

For audio production I have a POD HD500, my beautiful PRS SE Custom 22 guitar and I just got my Bagera Trirec Infinium amplifier and a slanted 412 cabinet. I'm going to pick up a package tomorrow with some more stuff for my growing studio (a Line 6 UX2 sound card/recording interface for my computer, a SM57 microphone and AKG K 240 MkII headphones). I've ordered a 5-string bass from LTD guitars as well (yes, all my money goes towards booze and music stuff  ).

For my computer I've got two Dynavoice Magic F-6 EX high tower speakers and three Dynavoice Magic C-4 EX speakers for a 5.0 surround system but the small speakers aren't plugged in (I need a new power amp, the one I have now can only support four speakers  ).

What kind of gear and technology do you guys have?

Oh lord... what gear DON'T I use?

For recording I have a Mackie Onyx Satellite that I run a Sennheiser 609 (contact guitar mic) into from either the 1x12 cab I use with my Fuchs Lucky Seven or from the speaker in my Marshall Studio 15. I had to sell off most of my pedals because I'm a broke student, but I keep an A/B/Y box on my pedalboard to switch between amps (I use the Fuchs for clean and the Marshall for dirty) and an EHX graphic fuzz in the A/B/Y's effects loop just for some extra "oomph" when I need it. Playing THROUGH all that gear I use a strat with Fender '57/'63 pickups in it, another strat with Lace Hot Golds, a telecaster (home-built!) with '51 Nocaster pickups, and an SG with custom-wound PAF-style humbuckers. I have to modify all the guitars I buy, hence the custom-made stuff. I'm a tinkerer.

You should post that sample you recorded!

Soon as I get home, I totally will.

Okay, I'm home, so here's the demo of my '96 strat loaded with lace sensors straight into the Lucky 7:

The volume and tone are wide open, so it's only my picking that changes the gain. The amp is almost telepathically touch-responsive. I'll try and record a demo of my Marshall tonight and pop it on here.

(Also, I know I kind of dox'd myself by having my full name there, but fuck it. I'm boring enough that I'm not concerned. :tomgirl: )

I have some Bose earbuds and I use my Galaxy S4 as an MP3 Player. I eventually want to get a 45rpm vinyl jukebox and a hi-fi turntable for records because I prefer the sound of vinyl to digital.

I'm also learning bass. I either wish to get a Fender American J-Bass or a Rickenbacker 4003 with an Ampeg SVT Blue Line Reissue head and a 4x8" stack. Tubes, man. Nothing else sounds like a tube amp.

Both are great basses, but if you don't get the Rick, I'm going to beat you senseless.

Also, here's a picture of Willy Wonka, a guitar I currently have in the "maintenance area:" http://www.flickr.com/photos/mooniejohnson/9339151282/

Personally, I play an epiphone SG and a cort Z42 (my first guitar.) For an amplifier, I've got a very old tiny tube amp, which used to be my dad's, and a pretty decent but very tiny 15w Peavey Vypyr, which is a pretty versatile modelling amp, great for practicing. I also have a danelectro distortion pedal, but since I mostly use my modelling amp, it doesn't get a lot of use. That might change once I find a band again.

I also have an off-brand spanish guitar, but I don't use that as much. It sounds good for a cheap practice guitar though, but the action isn't great and it goes out of tune fairly quickly.

I've also got a line6 UX2, which I use ocasionally. Haven't installed podfarm on my new PC yet though. Might have to do that sometime in the not too distant future.

Yeah, either a Ruby Red or Midnight Blue Ric would be my first choice, but $2k on a bass is a huge chunk of coin. Lemmy Kilmister and Dee Dee Ramone are my bass idols. Lemmy was always a Ric guy, and Dee Dee preferred Fender P-Basses. I prefer the sound of the J-Bass over the P, but nothing, NOTHING, sounds or looks like a Ric 4003. A Ric 4003 with Ric-O-Sound set up to an Ampeg SVT Reissue stack on one end and a Marshall tube guitar stack with a distortion pedal or two on the other end would be tits.

Since I don't have a need for another POD, is UX2 worth getting just for PodFarm? I use the free copy of Guitar Rig 5 for silent practice sometimes (GR actually does some damn good modeling), but I'm always looking for something better.

I've honsestly not had the energy to test it yet, I got the mic working a few minutes ago but haven't recorded anything, so I don't know yet.

But on the subject of basses, I've ordered this one:

I didn't try before I bought since its supposed to only be available in America and so I had to order it online, but I have my hopes up. I do a lot of Drop-A stuff so I really need the extra string.

Did someone say basses? Because last night, I had the most amazing dream that I found the most perfect bass in the world sitting at a Walmart shelf, and I picked it up and started slaying it, playing all the songs by Rush.

On the subject of non-dream basses, I have a Hartke sb-15 that's supposed to come with a Hartke amplifier, but I got it at a pawn shop, so I got a Crate amp as a delayed 13th birthday present. I played that bass for a solid 5 years (2007-2012). I wanted to get new strings for it, but the inside of it is all sorts of messed up, so I'm thinking of going to that new pawn shop that opened up down the boulevard to see if they have any basses (or handguns).
