What Got You Into Anime? -

I was probably 10/11 in 2002ish and couldn't sleep so I'd stay up watching Adult Swim, on weekends they would play Lupin III (Red Jacket Series) and I fell in love with it. It was totally dubbed, and the pop culture references made for America so it was amusing, I can't say I've watched that series in it's intended format, but I finally watched the previous one with English subtitles just a few months ago and it was definitely not as silly (still a great watch though). That would be my first introduction to, and still my favorite, anime.

I'm actually not a huge fan of anime. I like Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop, I sat through all of Death Note even though about a three-quarters the way through I was thinking
jesus fucking christ why did they kill L and bring in these two fags I couldn't care less about, how anticlimactic
, among a handful of other shows that I've started but not finished. One time I watched all of Princess Jellyfish on Netflix, there was a catch to me watching it, but at the time I really enjoyed it.

Oh god and dubbed Digimon is fucking hilarious the couple of times I've seen it. i fucking love digimon regardless of humor

I haven't heard of Sgt. Frog, though.

Sgt. Frog is pretty great. Very little story, a shitton of jokes. It's pretty damn good. Even the dub makes me laugh like a retarded seal.

I watched a lot of Pokemon, Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, and Digimon as a kid.

But I think what really got me into anime was probably the original Fullmetal Alchemist.

I was raised on Speed Racer video tapes because my dad grew up watching it, so I've kind of always been an anime fan.

Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon and Toonami as a whole. But I reached my true weeaboo stage when a girl I knew introduced me to Fruits Basket back in 2005 or so.

Like others, I casually watched Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, Digimon, Sailor Moon, and the like. However, what set me over the top was watching Spirited Away. Since then, I've been delving deeper and deeper into Asian media with a heavy focus on Japan.

My older brother was obsessed with anime. Trigun, Ghost in the Shell, and Cowboy Bebop are what I grew up around, and they're still my favorites.

Tranzor as a kid, then in jr high the usual early 90s VHS crop (Akira, A-ko, Robot Carnival), then in high school syndicated tv Sailor Moon sealed the deal.

Pokemon and Sailor Moon when I was 9-12. Toonami and Adult Swim in general during my teen years.

Also my older sister was a HUGE weeaboo when she was in middle school. She introduced me to all the subbed anime not yet available in the United States.

Mine's probably about there with yours, though the earliest stuff I watched in the 80's was stuff like "Belle & Sebastian" on Nickelodeon, seeing those anime tapes in the 90's and then the Toonami explosion, but it was a great time to get into it.

Technically Pokemon and Digimon. Then stuff from Adult Swim pulled me in (although Inuyasha not aging well is an understatement).

Then I got really into it because of a mystery series called Kindaichi. I think what I found appealing was that a lot of anime had story arcs which was a nice change of pace from shows with self-contained episodes.

From the ages 8-15, I was exposed to Toonami, Kids WB and FoxBox. That's how I got into anime.

Was really into Yu-Gi-Oh, DBZ and Pokemon as a kid, didn't really get into anime that much until my senior year of high school and I got hooked.

well, my first exposure was of course Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh! and Digimon.

What really got me into Anime was dubbed stuff on TV - Hellsing, X 1999, Ghost in the Shell and Wolfsrain. Also Slayers.

Cardcaptors. I know people rightly give Nelvana shit for messing up the dub, but I loved it anyways. I ended up tracking down the manga and getting into CLAMP, and it all kind of grew from there.
