Simple question to big-brained Kiwis, especially those who enjoyed those great nights of watching the Fenty Floyd riots last year.
What happens in the cities that decide to defund/abolish the police? What happens to America as whole?
The proponents of defund/abolish the police have vacillated wildly between what their slogans actually entail. The most milquetoast response you'll hear is to take money from the police budget and hand it over to social workers and activists (typically the same ones who participants or supporters of the non-existent, non-organizational tactic known as Antifa), or give 'mo munny fo dem programz.'
The more radical response is to eliminate the 'police' in favor of nebulous 'security', of the type we saw in the short-lived CHAZ that was covering up murders, including cleaning up shell casings, or as is being proposed in Minneapolis by 'a coalition of activist groups' called 'Yes 4 Minneapolis' (funded by $500,000 from the Open Society Foundation) to replace the MPD with the 'Department of Public Safety' (I've heard that Committees are far more revolutionary) who aren't forthcoming with exactly what this new department will do in terms of procedure.
Keep in mind that the founders of BLM admit to being trained marxists and that defunding/abolishing/hamstringing the police has been a primary part of the marxist program since Lenin's April Thesis as the predicate to the formation of marxist paramilitaries/Red Guards (See: July Days in Russia, the Hungarian Socialist Republic, Bienno Rosso in Italy, the Sparticist Revolt, the Asturias Revolt, the fall of Czechoslovakia), it is difficult to believe that, despite their hand-wringing over dead blacks, that their motives are benign.
