When talking about the alt-right, one encounters four primary definitions of the term:
Which of these are true, if any? Or is the "real" alt-right something completely different?
- The Wikipedia / ADL / SPLC / Western Corporate Mainstream News Media definition: "The alt-right, or alternative right, is a loosely-connected and somewhat ill-defined grouping of white supremacists/white nationalists, neo-Nazis, neo-fascists, neo-Confederates, Holocaust deniers, and other far-right fringe hate groups." and "The Alternative Right, commonly known as the "alt-right," is a set of far-right ideologies, groups and individuals whose core belief is that “white identity” is under attack by multicultural forces using “political correctness” and “social justice” to undermine white people and “their” civilization."
- The "Practical Non-Leftist" definition: "The alt-right, or alternative right, is a glorified snarl word used by pseudo-progressive leftists, neo-liberals, Marxists, Communists, Socialists, and other authoritarians who are economically left-wing, to demonize anyone who doesn't adhere to conventional leftist orthodoxy and dogma."
- The Breitbart definition: "A specter is haunting the dinner parties, fundraisers and think-tanks of the Establishment: the specter of the “alternative right.” Young, creative and eager to commit secular heresies, they have become public enemy number one to beltway conservatives — more hated, even, than Democrats or loopy progressives."
- The Encyclopedia Dramatica definition: "TL;TR: /pol/tards who are also normies"
Which of these are true, if any? Or is the "real" alt-right something completely different?
