A media boogeyman that is too afraid to be honest, but too bold to be a standard neocon trotskyite, and it never would have existed in any capacity if not for Hot-Rod Clinton herself. Very pro-Israel, and they pretty much only exist on Reddit. They could ONLY exist on Reddit. They're all of the autism of Reddit, combined with a limp-dick movement sometimes about creating a white ethnostate, but are even amittedly too pussy to do anything to advance that idea.

They spend 99% of their time trying to convince everyone that they're not racist for wanting a racially homogenous state. I mean, it's not necessarily racist, but when you sell yourself as the alternative, and spend most of your time in damage control, then you're a failed movement.

You know what the Alt-Right is? A political walled-garden. A containment zone for libertarians and the actual far-right, deliberately intended to house them in a purgatory of not really standing for anything.

It's mostly a media and Leftist boogeyman term for anything even slightly to the right of Anita Sarkeesian and Antifa and also not part of the accepted mainstream establishment. Post-2016, even establishment conservatives are being smeared as "Alt-Right", particularly from the SJW's and Neo-Communist types.

Prior to 2016, nobody knew what the Alt-Right was, especially not the so-called "normies". Now it's become a catch-all term for anything not in complete and total agreement with SJW identity politics.

The SJW's act like the Alt-Right is some grand Nazi/GamerGate conspiracy when in reality it's just a bunch of idiots posting on /pol/ and generally being the equal and opposite idiotic reaction to the idiocy of SJW's.

Both the SJW's and the actual Alt-Right are complete morons, and the latter group of morons also make for a convenient boogeyman for the media to drum up ratings and push agendas.

Aha, an opportunity to repeat myself yet again. @14⚡⚡ weev ⚡⚡88 can jump in here and expand, but here's my definition.

It's difficult to say who coined the term (some say Paul Gottfried), but Richard Spencer played an instrumental role popularizing the term "alt-right" with his former website Alternative Right. At its core, the Alternative Right (or alt-right) is big tent politics for young paleoconservatives, disillusioned former Libertarians and racist liberals / nationalists. Much like Occupy Wall Street, the alt-right is a loose coalition of disparate elements with radically different belief systems. You can have LaVeyan Satanists, white ethnonationalists / white nationalists, Christian fundamentalists a la Common Filth (despite his attacks on the alt-right, he's still followed by a good number of them), Traditionalist Catholics, Eastern Orthodox converts, neomonarchists, neoreactionaries, various elements of the manosphere, European Neopagans and all other similarly minded people claiming to be alt-right.

The common denominators are:
  • Anti-globalism. Funny since progressives were the champions of the anti-globalization movement in the '90s and early/mid '00s. Now, the tables have turned.
  • Anti-status quo.
  • Anti-egalitarianism. If anything divides the left and right sharper, it's the question of equality, and the alt-right sees it as a cancer.
  • Anti-political correctness.
  • Anti-feminism
  • Anti-anti-racism.
  • Anti-anti-sexism.
Only a small minority of the alt-right consists of bonafide Fascists or National Socialists, and they are often savagely attacked and ridiculed (as "14/88" types) by other alt-righters. Conversely, Fascists hate the alt-right, particularly because they feel that, unlike Fascism, the alt-right has no systematic framework from which to govern.

For those of you who've been led to believe the alt-right and Fascism can comfortably coalesce, dispel those misconceptions now and read the following:
  • Why the Alt-Right Is Gay
  • Zero Tolerance
  • Anti-Intellectualism
  • The Missing NPI Speaker
  • The Face of Decay
Slavros said:
And if we now discuss most recent history, we have to look to the appearance of the “Altright“, which we likewise have criticized time and again, and one of the articles by Max Macro had likewise drawn that distinct parallel between its advocates and those of the liberal mindset, using the “elegant dinner party” simile.

The Altright represents a new wave of “former” liberals who discovered undesirables in their gated community and who want to change the state of affairs, however they have presented themselves in such vague terms while using our themes, symbols and parts of our narratives to such a degree that it became unclear at first glance as to whether they are our allies or not. However the real nature of Altright revealed itself quick enough during the course of this US presidential election, namely that of being the same liberals who are just more internet savvy and who, for some reason, were utilizing our materials, but ultimately not to uphold our values but to secure their own petty, personal interests.

The actions of the Altright do seem to have a parallel with another action of gated community liberals, namely of white flight and gentrification: “Well we ruined this place with our liberal bullshit and can’t keep these undesirables out, time to uproot move to a new place with low property value and gentrify it, make a new gated community out of it. Oh look at that spot, it’s kind of backwards and quaint isn’t it? Let’s spruce it up a bit, what a project! Are you excited? I know I am!

The Altright is the first ever attempt at “movement gentrification“, of attempting to subvert the tools and message of an existing movement in order to plant and secure their own petty agenda within it: “Well we ruined conservatism with our bullshit and can’t keep these niggers out, time to uproot and move to a new place, something with next to no respectability and gentrify it, make it more presentable. Oh look at that, Fascists! That’s kind of backwards and quaint isn’t it? Le’ts spruce it up a bit, what a project! I guess I don’t like democracy too much either, I’m so fashy tee-hee!

Thus the Altright attempt to use our tools and message but then proceed to harp on issues of “presentability” and “respectability“, try to declaw and defang our methods. To an extent this is a calculated method of self-preservation against the inevitable accusations of being Nazi if you don’t keep up fast enough with the progressive parade, hence the existence of the gay term “fashy“, as a kind of cute and quaint way of belittling the idea as being no more than a joke or a meme in order to deflect the accusation. This, obviously, never works, and these people get branded as “evil nazi white supremacists” regardless, but they do serve to confuse and steer people with potential away from becoming true and full fledged Fascists and National-Socialists, offering them that last easy way out of breaking with the System and the decaying society that holds them hostage.

Below is an accurate video presentation of Altright movement gentrification, complete with parody of Dickie Spencer’s Phalanx:

We’ve even had one crystal clear example of this, when one startup movement had stolen the design of another movement’s poster and after changing the name, logos and links, “gentrified” it by removing the swastika and the word “jews” from the poster – “NOW it’s presentable!” Look up any pictures of Dickie Spencer and his attempt at a 1950s Average Man braindead smile, or the Identity Evropa rally where they all look like they are protesting shortage of caviar at their golf/tennis club, listen to the pretentious intellectual voice of Jar Jar Taylor with his retarded little bow-tie.

Other obvious tell tale signs include the attempts to pander to the mainstream media, the exultation of intellectualism over character, defense or apologetics of faggotry, which is not surprising in the least – faggots are the ultimate bourgeoisie and thus the envy of straight bourgeoisie, who would love nothing more than to get the fag couple on the block to come over to their next wine mixer and hear their comments on the newly refurbished living room, and all the wives in the gated community have been just dying for a gay best friend to be a faghag to.

So long as the fags are white they are ALT-RIGHT with me, haha, yes, such witty banter!

Thankfully, one doesn’t have to worry about the Altright too much as its demise is inevitable, and just as the hippie protesters of the 60s seamlessly converted back to the American standard and the jewish narrative, so too will the Altright convert back to mainstream politics by means of its representatives actively seeking that and them being overrun with mainstream Trump supporters who are claiming the title for themselves. However one must avoid the danger of these liberals gentrifying potential Fascist/NS movements, while potential individual Fascists must hear loud and clear that Fascism and the Altright are in no way the same and cannot be allies by definition – a true Fascist/NS is not simply a racist liberal with bourgeoisie mindset, morality and sentimentalities and we shall not stand for people muddying our message and standing in its way as a detour that obscures the one and only path to the Truth:
And there are those that are by no means that way, and whose authors, far from being true followers of the doctrines, of which they display the visible symbols, represent in reality only themselves and use the prestige of the doctrine and the authority that it confers on them to promote their own interests, to satisfy personal grudges, or simply to give free reign to their passions.
-Savitri Devi, “The Religion of the Strong”

And for those that accuse us of “purity spiraling“, know this – we do as one of the great champions of our Worldview had instructed us to, thus proving once and for all, who we are, and who you are:

The greatness of any powerful organization, which embodies an idea in this world, depends on the absolutely religious fanaticism with which it establishes itself when compared to others. It must be fanatically convinced that it is right and just, and it must be absolutely intolerant of any idea or organization that is counter to its own teaching. If an idea is right and it takes up the sword of battle with this mind-set, it is invincible and any persecution only strengthens it.
-Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf V1, Ch12
The white ethnonationalists within the alt right can largely be seen as a predictable reaction against the feminist gender "identity politics" and anti-white ethno-nationalist groupthink that have been promoted by neoliberals and their progressive lackeys for the better half of the 20th century.

It's hardly a mystery why the alt-right gained the traction they have since everyone else is aggressively promoting their own narrow ethno-nationalist or gender group interests, white heterosexual males alone are singled out and criticized whenever they start belatedly defending their own group interests. Of course, societal elites have been busily promoting their own political and economic interests all along, increasingly behind a pseudo-humanitarian globalist and multiculturalist veneer, but are doing so mainly at the expense of the American working and middle classes.

I think the best definition for the alt-right is that it is a reactionary movement of white people playing identity politics. However, in reality they just seem to be a bunch of virgin suburban kids from /pol/ larping as Nazis with a little bit of jewish conspiracy tin-foil on the side.

Any time a bunch of alt-righters actually shows up in public, though, whether or not that's representative of some bigger invisible "alt right," they have more ethnic diversity than the nearly all-white SJWs. These are pretty rare, as outside of the kind of spergs who show up in kekistani outfits, it's generally stuff like mocking Shia's HWNDU shit by mugging at the camera.

They started off as a lose coalition of trump supporters from all aspects of the political spectrum, predominantly on the centre right to far right. The alt right didn't exist as a cohesive group (and still doesn't) until Hillary Clinton labelled them as such. Since Trump's election victory the "movement" fractured into infighting over which ism is better with the most extreme getting the most media attention i.e (((Richard Spencer))). The balance was essentially restored as the common political enemy was beaten.

After the media attention moderates had to disavow the extremists this led to the split into what was called the alt right and the alt lite, essentially a battle between ethno-nationalists and info wars and Milo Yiannopoulos and other talking heads. Alt lite was a label used by those who saw the alt right as a credible political movement instead of the bunch a larping /pol/acks and neckbeards that they really are.

And its remained just that, they did gain a bit of traction with krautgate and internet blood sports but to this date they are just as fringe as the always have been. A media boogieman to create a moral panic over the threat white nationalism.

I am not really an expert on the Alt-right talking heads, I'm mostly judging by people I encountered on /pol/ and on JFs server. Those guys in general seem to unironically believe that (((they))) are out to get them and that the only way to solve literally every problem in their life is to create a white ethnostate. They constantly discuss how niggers and jews are the #1 reason of all bad things happening anywhere in the world and brag about how hardcore conservative they are. However, I'd bet money that most of them are just sad autistic fucks, jerking off to Asuka Langley (like Alt-Hype) and they don't practice what they preach.

If you look at it today it certainly is like that. Like much of chan culture it's been a victim of its own success and people are now unironically doing what they used to do ironically. Not that /pol/ wasn't always broadly racist and offensive, but much of it used to be an act to drive away the normies. Instead now they're overrun with normies much like /b/ after people joined thinking they were really the Internet Hate Machine from Fox.

Rene Descartes was right.

A reactionary movement that is less numerous and threatening than many leftists unironically believe it to be.
This is also true. I think the Alt-right mostly serve as a boogeyman used by the media to justify restrictions and censorship. It's kind of similar to the whole «why do you object NSA spying on your ass 24/7, are you a terrorist sympathizer by any chance?».

As I already said, even though I don't know much about the alt-right talking heads in general, I have my own opinion on JFG and I think that he is a sociopath, a pervert and a shady individual that will do everything to saturate his ego and to cash in on the gullible fools, who trust his integrity.

In the early days of imageboard culture, the userbase was the standard composite of edgy nerds. Politics was only peripheral. I recall a copypasta reading that the more intelligent users eventually found productive careers and dedicated less and less time to shitposting, leaving behind a huge swath of undesirables. It is tempting to think that the users with more to offer left for greener pastures and the dregs gradually took over, but there really isn't a single explanation for why the chans are so radically different now than they were then. /cow/'s @JEWS has a theory, though.
JEWS said:
Imagine you're at the movies with your friends. You have some in-jokes and you rib each other for fun. Then, someone approaches your group with the Encyclopedia Yourfriendsica. He has studied the banter. He pretends that he's been one of your friends all along, using your in-jokes–often incorrectly. When someone makes a joke in a weird way, he corrects him with the textbook definition of your in-joke.

Eventually, more of them join your group. Eventually, your friends leave, and the group becomes a group of people impersonating your group of friends. The cycle continues indefinitely until the theater goes out of business.
This is precisely why Encyclopedia Dramatica was very controversial between 2007 - 2009. That site was singlehandedly blamed for creating newfags who in turn spread their cancer just about everywhere until the moderators pushed back by banning them. Despite their best efforts, the damage had already been done. By the time sites like Know Your Meme and the like cropped up, the mainstreaming of imageboard culture was complete, and ED looked underground by comparison.

With regards to /pol/, pretend you're a Hollywood Nazi. It's no secret the entertainment industry has cultivated the image of the far-right cartoonish villains and fanatics. Of course, you know the score and are in on the joke, so while you may be many things, you're not that crude trope from WW2 movies. You figure you'd poke some fun at the mainstream conception forged by Hollywood, proudly exclaiming, "Yep, that's me, I'mma rape your babies and holocaust your minorities, ho ho ho". You and a group of friends do this specifically to make fun of the stereotype. Then a bunch of idiots think you're being serious. They don't get that you're playing up stereotypes for the purpose of satire. They think you're for real. Ironically, these self-proclaimed right-wingers BELIEVED the Hollywood propaganda whose entire message was to convince Joe Public believe that only sociopaths join the far-right. These "right-wingers" were, in fact, useful idiots mistaking satire for agitprop.

What the alt-right "actually is" is the alternative right. Meaning anyone conservative who doesn't really agree with the republicans. It's really that simple. So tea party was semi sorta alt right, or at least pretending to be, libertarians are alt-right, and I guess depending on their specific views neo-nazis could be alt-right too.

Richard Mongler's definition is an attempt by various small groups of clown shoe morons to act like their dumb nazi larp is legitimate and big enough to matter. They're useful idiots because they go right along with the media's line about the alt-right being a a bunch of nazis. No, a group of idiots on the internet don't get to define what the alt-right is, who cares what some random people vomited into the internet on the subject.

The adults are trying to have a conversation, nobody is shocked by your lame performance art.

The Alt-right as it is understood by the media is a bunch of Neo-Nazi tryhards that want to ethnically cleanse the country of all the niggers, jews, and spics and there are millions of them, when in reality they are just as sad as Social Justice Warriors who pull the identity politics card.

The truth of the matter is that more true Alt-Right is simply anyone that doesn't currently agree with the current mainstream Right leaning politics as there are alot of traditional conservatives, libertarians, and others who don't agree with the dying Neo-Cons who made the Republican Party garbage.
