It is a Pacific Islander dessert that I tried many years ago but I never found out the name. It is light tan and like a ball of mochi, but more soft and slimy. I think it was breadfruit that had been marinated in brown sugar syrup.
What is the name of this food? - I’m genuinely trying to find out.

Fekei Ulu maybe? It's a breadfruit dessert that sounds similar to your description.

I think this is the closest guess. It's not quite the same thing, (the end product was a smooth and silky ball, rather than the lumpy appearance from the link you sent). Each one was also wrapped up in a leaf like a tamale. However, the recipe for Fekei Ulu makes it sound like a variation of the same dish.
Smooth and mochi like? Reminds me of haupia, but I haven't seen a round one.
