What is the peak nostalgic period of your life? -

2008 was probably the one year where things would change in a way where technology and politics would never be the same (as far as U.S, standards are concerned)

Either early childhood in the late 90's and early 2000's (around 1997 to 2002) or my "tween" years from 2004-2007.

Almost any point in time between 2004 to early 2010 was a good point in my life for me, but I would say that 2009 was probably the one year that I would relive again if I could. Nothing bad happened to me that year, outside of my mother coming out of remission for cancer (she had that a lot). I had a lot of cool memories, such as working with a cute girl who genuinely liked me and spending the night at the Denver International Airport during a layover, which I thought was going to be horrible but it ended up being one of the most interesting nights I ever had. I was in graduate school, was better looking and in somewhat better shape, was in my mid-20s, it seemed like I had a future, I had a social circle, the world wasn't complete shit, most of the current SJEW zeitgeist wasn't around to ruin my life, I didn't have too many horrible habits back then...life wasn't bad back then. I wish that it had continued that way, but it certainly didn't. Oh well; it isn't impossible for me to have a year as good as that one again...

When I was 4 To 9 that's it! Life has been after that A: My life being shitty and the world is good or B: My life going great and the world being shitty. Right now, My life is on B.

Early 80s. Always loved the music and general aesthetics of that time. Plus the world wasn't all crazy with identity politics and outrage. We actually had to go outside and play rather than park ourselves in front of a screen all day.

I'd say late 90's until about 2007-08 for me. The Internet was a magical place where you could find fansites for anything and everything, there was always some new website you could discover now there is like 5 websites that make up 90% of all traffic/content. There wasn't anywhere near as much racebaiting bullshit, before Corona I noticed less mixed groups of kids playing together than when I was younger and its only going to get worse with the current climate. Going to the movies was exciting as the movies being released then (at least to me) were great. Comedy still existed back then to.

Tween years. Brother was still alive and getting me into all kinds of cools shit so the magic of gaming/tabletop/nerd shit was fresh, the music was good, even had a cute babysitter who'd bring over a pile of game cartridges when she looked after me.

Early/ mid 90's were great as a kid. Moved to a nice neighbourhood with plenty of other local kids to hang out with, plus SNES and PC vidyagames were on fire. Mid 2000's were also pretty cosy with Myspace emo dorkery, and the girls got super hot. Early 2010's was briefly good too, though shit was slowly collapsing as the sanctimonious woke division set in and vidya largely stagnated.

I'm sure the regulars here know my ravings well. Post 2010ish/when the Playstation 2 died/fell off the radar was my peak.

You all know my deal by now. US anime fandom got divided up by schisms over media differences than to unite over the style as a whole, noticed that no one did shit to try to make their own anime shit on a grassroots level outside of the flops of webcomics and Monty Oum making RWBY as those trailers, development for good video games got overshadowed by the Shovelware Shit Dump of the Wii and the graphics stronghousing of the PS3 and Xbox 360, Great Recession doing a whole lot of bad shit like closing down bookstores and making every company scared to dare to take risks and destroying my dreams of visiting Japan, the works.

On the life goes on side of things, I learned to not ever give up your interests even if times change that much. Keep moving on and don't let go of what you like in life.

I have several peaks.

In terms of cultural nostalgia, it has to be the late 90s-mid 200s - wrestling, music, PC gaming, and anime.

In terms of fond life memories, it would be my times overseas and the first crypto golden age in 2017.

I had several peaks - Childhood to 6th Grade - the 80s were a pretty cool time to be a kid since you had plenty of freedom, and parents weren't hovering over you ready to smother you in bubble wrap the second you stubbed your toe. Arcades and pizza places were like Heaven....in the FUTURE!

College - 90's - Video Games and Anime were cool and despite some setbacks, I was able to live on my own and had tons of free time to pick up new skills and explore. Money was always tight, but that's par for the course for a pre-career person.

I'd say life since then has been pretty mixed. It had its good moments and its bad moments. Ever since the parents died, it's been pretty sucky, but that was recent and I'm not alone in the "Life becoming recently sucky" thing. Would like to have the chance to go to festivals again and I'd like a reliable car. Those are probably the most realistic of my goals.

2019. I had a high quality car, house and all my needs fulfilled for about 500 a month with a job paying 18/hr for a 3x12 T-Th shift. Every weekend was a new concert, every want was just as easy to find as the next and if I didn't want to work, I'd just not show up and nobody cared. I miss that time and I squandered what should have been something amazing.

I mean, shit is pretty good now, though my optimistic perspective generally means I always have a 'gradually onward and upward' philosophy on life. That said:

Probably 2015 - early 2018 (up to the pandemic basically.) Without powerleveling, that was when I began my journey as a mature student, working, grinding, and kicking ass in a top university. It was HARD work, but I had a lot going on for me at the time, academically, financially, romantically. Life was paying out big time after what seemed like nothing but disappointment prior. A 'good things come to those who wait' sort of situation.

It's good now too, but that period I just happened to be in a headspace and a life situation/point in time that just worked so well. I look forward to the future, but that is definitely my flourishing period in many ways.
