Subway was better back when they did the "V" cut on the top of the bread to fill it in with meats and rabbit food.

I am genuinely curious about why Subway seems to be so vehemently hated by people. I have honestly never had a problem with them. Admittedly I have some very basic go tos. Either the sweet onion chicken teriyaki or the tuna, but no matter which store I have gone too, it's always been good (especially for the price) and most important for any chain, it has always been consistent no matter what store I go too.

I do note however that I have never once ordered their white bread and dont like lettuce on my sandwiches so never order that either. I seem notice those two ingredients in particular seem to be a bone of contention.

They aren't cheap, considering the quality of their lunchmeats. Your little corner store would have better quality meat for the same price.
E- The only sandwich shop/deli style restaurant I ever worked where I didn't have to slice and portion meat out was Subway. However, those silicone bread proofer/baker combos are really nice for hoagie bun dough.

If you have a Firehouse or Jersey Mike's nearby, there really isn't an excuse to eat Subway. You pay what, a dollar or two more but the quality of the sub is leagues better. Hell, I've ate those prepacked sandwiches from 7-11 before and even those are much better than what you typically get at Subway.

The local Grocery store has better sandwiches you can pick any bread from the bakery at no extra cost You can pick 2 cheeses from the deli counter regardless of the price you can pick up to 3 meats regardless of the price. And they have all the condiments and toppings you could desire total price at my grocery store one baguette long sandwich $7.99 Contains just under a pound of meat and cheese. (Fyi I highly recommend the duck breast at $25 lbs on it)

Subway here is doable if you are judicious about what toppings you yet. Go for spinach over the hamster bedding they call lettuce, it keeps better. Also cucumbers instead of tomatoes. And add in onions and olives for more flavor.
