Meow Wolf's a great way to kill 4-6 hours. Despite it being George R.R. Martins way to employ woke artists it actually is pretty fun to see in person. You could wander around the plaza, driving through it is a terrifying and head-ache inducing experience because it's literally 1600's cow trails converted into roads and good luck finding parking but seeing some of the oldest, Spanish influenced areas of the country is something different at least.

Go look at Indian shit. If you want a tour I recommend Acoma Pueblo, which is up on a mesa and is still inhabited. Closer to Albuquerque is Petroglyph National Monument, who's main trail is actually a pretty short 3 mile loop. Good if you're on a time crunch. Up near Los Alamos you could do...

Sure there are "landmarks" but every state got them. Turn back and don't bother, the state name should be changed to Albuquerque because its the only city worth a damn in that state. Even than Albuquerque isn't that great just another city. Las Cruces is also big I suppose but meh. Frito pie is the state staple food there but its just trash food that anyone can make. Its also brown 24/7 are you sold on the state yet?

Correction "Land of Entrapment"

No, but I have to travel through it apparently. Like I know you all have a lot of rezniggers and frybread and...??? Taos? But I want to avoid that hipster shithole.

If you’re in Santa Fe, the best olives and pickles ever are at Santa Fe Olive Oil & Balsamics on the plaza. Kakawa Chocolate House is absurdly delicious, especially the brownies and sundaes, and The Shake Foundation has great fried oyster sandwiches. Backroad Pizza is also classic.
If you’re in ABQ, I Scream Ice Cream is amazing and Boxing Bear has pretty good beers. And if you’re actually being a tourist, kill yourself.

Yeah the taco frybread is amazing and that question was sarcasm. Every state in the union has its own appeal but NM is just boring. You know there's a Las Vegas, NM? Yeah well there's a reason no one knows about it. It's just a small town in a desolate state. Unfortunately if you want to have any fun its going to be in your more liberal hipster areas. Contrast that Idaho where there's plenty of backwoods and plenty of country explore and have fun in.

Carlsbad Caverns is a pretty big cave you can go see and a whole bunch of bats fly out of it night.
And get a green chile cheeseburger at Blake's Lotaburger. It's a local chain and they're all over the state.
Carlsbad is fun if you like caves. There’s a decent amount of walking (I wouldn’t define it as strenuous though, it was a chill walk, there’s an elevator too if I remember correctly) and if you can get there in time it’s fun to see the bats enter and leave.

Blake’s is a chain that’s just in New Mexico... I like their breakfast burritos. Not the best but I personally like trying chains that are specific to certain states.

There’s some historical sites that you can visit like some old indian and Spanish ruins. Idk if you’re into that or if it’d bore you. It’s kinda niche and 99% of people would find if boring. I’m weird so I like them.

If you like to people watch Roswell is interesting. IMO the people who go there are more interesting than the alien museums or any of the sites. I bring this up because this is a lolcow site and if you like to gawk at weirdos it’s a great town for that.

Also you can gamble at the reservations but a lot of western states have those.

No city in NM (or anywhere for that matter) is a "destination". You might find some artsy, tourist-trap shit, but otherwise they're just full of fucking people. Especially don't go out of your way to see Roswell. In fact, don't go to the SE part of the state for any reason other than Carlsbad Caverns.

Drive the state highways in the northern, western, and south western parts of the state. Check out monuments, parks, and shit like El Malpais, Tent Rocks, Ghost Ranch, Bandelier, El Morro, Chain of Craters etc. Hike the Sandias (La Luz trail, or even the Tram), or check out the Organs of you're not used to being around mountains. Go get lost and die at White Sands if you're Japanese. Get away from the Rio Grand valley, and the turquoise peddlers.

Contrast that Idaho where there's plenty of backwoods and plenty of country explore and have fun in.
Idaho has a higher population density than New Mexico. Might as well be Bangladesh.
