It simply means that there's so many people interested in that lolcow and the discussion about them is so large that it can't really be contained within a single thread. Also it's worth pointing out that they get deleted and added all the time, I can think of at least three people who used to have pride of place on the front page who don't anymore (usually because they stopped being active and discussion dried up).
Lots of people start making accounts that are specific to the cow, start using the cow's picture as their pfp, and/or get so obsessed with the cow that all their activity is in one thread. It's less about the cow in particular and more about the behavior of the followers.
It's similar to what happened to Chris - at first he was just a retard with a bad comic, then people discovered the rest of his shenanigans, like Stackhouse saga in the end we know everything possible about him, every single detail. Lolcow cult is basically this last part, when no detail is minor and every, not even particularly lolcowish action of that person is documented, archived and is the object of discussion. Usually this cult also covers cow's orbiters and especially spergy haters a.k.a. a-logs.
So we sacrifice all the troons to Slaanesh obviously, but what about the other gods?
From this, some further additional analysis from me finds that lolcow cults tend to occur when exceptional individuals tend to try to make it in the world, but lack any sense of self awareness of their actions, and does more harm or ridicule than intended good, all the while their actions tend to get them better than they deserve, like a paparazzi swarmed celebrity who enjoys getting fucked up or getting in trouble way too much. With the availability of the internet, this further magnifies the lolcow factor because you should know better than to make public your problems than treat the internet (ie. an open public space using communications based electronic devices) like your own secret compartment of your computer.
Most of all, this isn't about youtubers who have occasional spats now and then and are middling to near obscure content creators for an example; we're talking about real dramalamas and narcissistic nobodies who stir up clout and shit if it means climbing up the ladder by consistent social backstabbing, being a real asshole, and/or trying to get away with degeneracy and/or amoral and reprehensibly illegal shit, than anything with merit. Mental illness does tend to play a part in this, but this always boils back to the individual if they decide to get help or not and the content of their character. I'm sure there's more to this, but all in all, this is my basis of what makes lolcow cults spring up into existence as cults of personality.

I agree with the assessment that it is much more about the behavior of the followers. Also like a cult, they repeat the same chants over and over again. My example here is the Russel Greer thread, though his is not alone (DSP comes to mind).
There are maybe 1-3 people who actually add new or insightful things about him regularly. The rest is either the same people talking about how he is a Narcissist for five more pages (much like they did for the 20 pages prior to an actual update) or newfags asking the same old questions again instead of reading the thread. He’s an extremely funny cow, but that thread will move 10 pages and literally nothing of value will be added— just the same chants over and over again.

No idea, maybe it means they have something of a 'cult following' or fanbase like Onison or Ethan Ralph, as opposed to someone like Chris-Chan or Russell Greer who is basically just a universal laughing stock.
I'd add to your post, that this bunch of people usually centers their activity and worldview (at least on this forum) around this one cow in a sense that they consider this person the worst or smear them with extra shit. Many of them are borderline a-logs, but restrain themselves, 'cause they know that here it can warrant one his own thread. I mean, look at regulars at DSP or Ralph's subforums. These two are a bunch of losers, yet people there call them everything from scammers and abusers to sociopaths and borderline cult leaders, when this website has threads about real sociopaths, abusers and scammers.
Exactly. Someone like Amber is both a deathfat and a cultcow.
