What should I compose next? -

(I'm going to regret this.)

So. I recently finished composing my 4th clarinet concerto. It's the most complex thing I've ever written, as well as being the longest single-movement work I've ever done.

I started it in December of last year, and as you might imagine, it's taken up a lot of my time and mental energy since then. Now that it's finished, I'm at a bit of a loose end. I'm currently working on a light orchestral piece to decompress, but once that's done I want to do another large-scale orchestral work.

I'm looking for suggestions in terms of things like instrumentation, structure, mood, character and so forth.
I won't necessarily take any of the suggestions, but your thoughts will be inputed and taken into consideration.

I don't want to write another concerto because I've written 2 fairly major ones in the past 3 years; nor do I want to write another symphony because I wrote one just last year.

Thanks for your time and suggestions. :)

How about a Lolcow String Quartet:

1st movt "Len": Allegro assai - ostinato figures suggesting trains. Sneaky melodic lines devolving into incoherence. Hammering finale suggesting the Judge's verdict.

2nd movt "Loveshys": Adagio dolorosa - maudlin sentimental theme that persists despite increasing loud snickering snippets all around them. Occasional abortive attempts at a fugue to suggest fake intellectualism.

3rd movt "Phil": Scherzo, alla marcia - fake Mexican theme flanked by its retrograde and inverse.

4th movt "Chris": Vivace - clumsy, naive theme that stumbles across several keys until it arrives at C major, where it develops briefly and then fades into silence.
