I started reading it thinking Hussie might be satirising how superficial social media and internet culture is, like the main character starts off by saying things like knowing what interests people have is more important than their character (As in what online fandoms they belong to, examples being fans of Kpop and Metal Gear Solid porn) and then makes up a gender spectrum based on clowns and horses all while being a mean spirited superficial depressed alcoholic and sociopathic social media obsessed e-girl who constantly compulsively lies and has sex with people to be able to manipulate them easier and I’m like ‘Wow, this is a pretty scathing commentary!’ but it turns out you’re supposed to be rooting for her.
She eventually goes full Mary Sue, shoots some cops and becomes rich (Despite hating capitalism) by hacking bitcoins from Trump supporting boomers, then starts a BLM style insurrection based on clowns rather race where she bitches about America‘s colonialism and capitalism while drinking expensive wine at a private mansion and then after outsmarting the US government gains a huge following both on social media and real life and wages war on the entire world all while being incredibly petty like focusing on killing people who said mean things to her online or letting everyone know how much she hates her parents and finally she decides she’s had enough and runs off with a bunch of money to a nice beach front property in Cuba or somewhere like that (After complaining more about western capitalism and colonialism) to live happily ever after with her lesbian lover with no consequences whatsoever despite personally murdering many people and starting a terrorist group that’s taking over the world. THE END.

It’s technically a video game but it only pretends like it’s going to be interactive, what was especially annoying at first when I thought there was going to be a normal plot is Hussie drops clues that go absolutely nowhere, like she
shoots a cop and hides the gun in a drawer of her friend who is also an egirl who likes taking selfies and keeps it a secret so you might think this will turn up later where her friend accidentally uncovers it or takes a photo or has a livestream featuring the gun leading the police to discover the murderer but none of that happens and it never is mentioned again.

Why was John suddenly turned into 'June' out of nowhere? I really liked his character and suddenly seeing the people (that remain) following the comic praise this newfound development like the best thing since sliced bread is so bizarro.

Basically? Hussie put out some Toblerones, said anybody found it could have something made canon, and Tumblrina found it and wanted 'June.'
The worst part is that because what with the Dreamself being canonically your ideal self...so if any of the characters are trans, we only know them as they are after they (socially) transitioned.
When you get down to it, a lot of trans-fetishizing Tumblrinas and their ilk have a tendency towards being more transphobic than anybody here.

This feels like a joke on the part of both Hussie and the one who asked for it and everyone just fell in love and went "praise be" to the new June Egbert.
Like, there were always alternate genderbent versions of the four kids (Joan/June/etc) and they managed to co-exist peacefully with the narrative. But this taking of this main character of HS, quite literally the first person you meet in the comic, and then proclaiming "well she's a girl now according to blessed Hussie and either accept it or weep" feels so out of place, but not in a funny way

I can understand that. Hussie definitely did not write for any of these characters to be developed as trans or exploring their gender identities in the future. The sexual orientations, there's still justification (albeit flimsy), as it was explored within the main body of the comic. But all of these trans stuff? Definitely hamfisted.
I'm not trans, but it definitely feels like fetishizing trans people. Like "at last, these characters can be their true selves"; when their true selves is what the author was writing them to be, before he slowly removed himself from the picture, like a god ashamed of what had become of his creation

I don't think you should have to be part of a group to notice it's getting fetishized.
A lot of what shows it's fetishization is how it's handled compared to, say, Jade's dog dick issue which got made canon. Honestly, if I went that route? I'd have had her be the one who's trans--MtF, she finds having a huge fucking dog dick attached to her crotch more than a bit freaky thank you, and misses her vagina. Let's be honest, it'd have fit Homestuck. This would also not have left the story in the massively awkward place of having Jade somehow just being a defective futa with magically no dysphoria when she should have it and...'Joan' over here being all dramatic and "I want to be a true and honest woman uwu" or whatever.
But, I mean, at the end of the day the main part of the series pretty much ended on a nice, solid bed of LGBT* fetishization, with there being people on Tumblr who were soaking their panties over how it ended with allllll non-straight ships...and only one being one that had made any sense at any point. It actually says a lot about how the writing went downhill in Act 6 that he'd also managed to have Rosemary sunk by pretty much making everything about Vriska's character development a bad thing. (Seriously, Serkets fuck everything up, even in the meta sense.)
This actually is why I've said that I don't think Viz knew what they were buying, because if nothing else? They'd have insisted on old-style editorial powers for the epilogues on if they'd bought it at all.

Tranny Hussie is the true Homestuck end boss. At long last, we'll finally see all the "third scratch" foreshadowing pay off when Dave invades and scratches Hussie's session. The post-Scratch Hussie session will give us True Shitlord Hussie, the only character strong enough to kill Tranny Hussie and fix the damage to the narrative timeline.
The Waste of Space, a being that is usually seen as absolutely useless. A god that can't even control his own creation. That's what'll kill Tranny Hussie and end the post-canon for good, a return to tradition.
True Shitlord Hussie, AKA TS Hussie, would be what would have happened if he'd made Homestuck without it getting massively popular with people outside of shitposting circles. As horribly fucking retarded as actually making true Jade having a dog penis is of a decision, it can fit into the Homestuck style of storytelling either way.
On one hand, you can go full comedy, where Jade DOESNT want a doggy dick, she's not trans, she still identifies as cis, and she's very confused and freaked out by her new schlong. I think this is explored hilariously well in the fancomic Jade Harley Has A Dog Penis And It's Horrible which pokes fun at it in a lighthearted Homestuck-y fashion.
On the other hand, yeah, you could go all out and have her had trans thoughts all throughout the story--maybe even make it so that her being isolated from human contact on an island has made her think differently about her gender in general, and that the canine cock is a free pass/excuse to go down that path

Rosemary at least existed long enough to have an iota of sense and be explored in the comic. But yeah, straight or gay ships aside, all of them were a train wreck once the credits rolled, and its very frustrating to watch. At the very least, John got to be with Roxy because that boy deserved some Lalonde puss one way or the other.
I believe this too. Viz saw it as "Successful comic? Hey, we publish and sell comics! We're all about comics! Let's acquire it!" without taking notice of the immense sweaty baggage that came with it (figuratively and literally) and its to no surprise that a year or so later, they realized the mistake they've done, and they're just trying to milk back the 'franchise' for what they paid for while hiding it away in the basement like a dirty deed.
It would be interesting to see, honestly, what direction the comic would go towards if Hussie never bent his knee to the Tumblr crowd. Im certain it wouldnt have been as commercially successful, and it wouldnt be as drawn out as it was, but if he had continued on his shitpost edgy mindset all throughout, I wonder how the comic and its fandom would look like today.
