What’s your favorite animal? -

I’m a bleeding heart animal lover so I have love and appreciation for all animals. But my favorite has to be dogs. All of the dogs I’ve met have been so cute and sweet and loving. I just love them.

I also have a strong appreciation for big cats (especially tigers) and highly intelligent animals like elephants, dolphins and whales, and crows.

Cheetahs. I still have a stuffed cheetah my parents bought me when we went to the zoo when i was a toddler. And they're still the first exhibit i go see whenever i go there.

Cats, both domestic housecats and wild big cats. Maine Coons are my favorite breed of housecat though.

The lolcow. Free entertainment and a lack of self awareness. The Halal breed is rare, but more engaging.

Cats. I grew up with a lot of them and I've always loved them.

Also, ever since I first read Ratman's Notebooks, I've always loved rats. They're really intelligent and cute. Yeah, they carry disease and carry parasites that carry disease, but c'mon! Look at dat face!

I really love Marmosets they live in small family units and watching them eat mini marshmellows is cute AF. I don't agree with owning wild animals though so my only interaction comes from when I used to volunteer. An interesting fact about Marmosets is that they almost always give birth to twins and the placentas merge leading to marmosets being chimeric. The bodies of marmosets will often contain stem and sperm cells from their twin. This is just really interesting to me.

Iirc pet rats (also known as “fancy rats”) are a different breed from wild rats. They were bred to not be such easy carriers of disease and to have a better temperament towards humans.

They are incredibly intelligent, though! And apparently get quite attached to their owners. I would actually be interested in getting a rat, except they only live for like 2 years and I refuse to get extremely attached to an animal only to have it die only 2 years later. I need a minimum commitment of 10 years in my pets.

Regarding pets: Dogs are #1, but i do like small furry creatures like Hamsters, Ferrets, and Hedgehogs

Otherwise I'm a reptile person... lizards and such that remind me of Dinosaurs because Dinosaurs are bad-ass

I really like reptiles and birds (dinosaurs’ direct descendants) for the same reason. Sometimes when you watch them you can see the dinosaur come out.

When it comes to extinct animals, dinosaurs as a whole are definitely my favorite. I was obsessed with them as a kid and wanted to be a paleontologist for a long time (I realized it might not be the best fit for me, though). I still really love them and watch whatever documentary I can about dinosaurs. My favorite group is the raptors/dromaeosaurs. They were badass.

Terror birds, gotta love the janky adaptation of birds back into the apex ground predator niche. Too bad they went extinct in the Pliocene.

Elephants, camels and I guess birds just because I've found myself enjoying just watching them bird around.

I used to be autistic for dinosaurs and still enjoy them.

Wolverines; tenacious, ornery and pound-for-pound one of the toughest around. I'm also fond of pigs; smart, fat and smug. Dogs I'm so-so on. It all depends on, well, you know..

Speaking of extinct animals, another favorite of mine was megalodon. It was basically a 50-foot-long great white shark.

An extremely awe-inspiring and fascinating animal, but one I’m glad went extinct.
