When do you think Chris is finally going to give up?

Is he ever going to realize that he has nothing to offer a woman unless he makes drastic changes to himself in pretty much every way? :alog:

Has he already come to that conclusion? (:_(

Or is he forever going to have some dim retard optimism that will always tell him "just keep going a little bit more and all your dreams will come true"? *yawn*

I think never. I've said something to this extent before, but every town has a Chris or two, and Chris will be the town eccentric, muttering to himself and walking around the shopping center in a haze when he's 50 years old. His hair a tangled Robert Smith mess, lipstick and eyeshadow flaking off after days. The Love Quest sign version 12.0. He hasn't realized by now that his appearance, attitude and hygiene will horrify about 99% of the female populace, and I don't see him resigning himself to that fact any time soon. Yesterday's frowning horror pic of himself at the lowest point in his life as an example of "I'm attractive, right?" is testament to that fact.

He hates change..so I'll say never as well.

If you mean "realize he's a failure, keep to himself, and die of grief", never.

He thinks that he has everything to offer a pretty woman, but almost all of them are taken by all of the JERKS denying him china.

And with what little women are left, they already know all about him from the internet. The trolls obsess over him so much, he has no chance to get a sweetheart. We have nothing better to do with our lives than ruin his.

Realizing he's the problem would require him to cut down his monstrous ego, and we all know that's never happening.

I don't think he will ever give up. He's going to be that guy you see sitting in McDonald's every so often. The guy who just sits there and stares at everyone who walks in, adjusting his sitting position and posture when a pretty girl walks in. He's going to be doing that when he's 40, 50, possibly 60 if his lifestyle doesn't kill him first. He might stop once Barb dies. Then he will have to assume some responsibility or end up homeless.

Ok, Chris won't give up...but his heart will.

Every quarter pounder meal brings him closer to his date with the Grim Reaper. :alog:

Chris will give up once his main cheerleaders--Barb and Anna--either kick the bucket or somehow vanish from his life. I know Barb isn't doing much to help his situation now, but the long-term effects of her incessant coddling are undeniable. And, even though Chris and Barb's relationship is more strained than it used to be, it's still going to be a difficult adjustment without having his mother's unconditional...love (if you can even call it love?) in his life.

Anna, I think, is going to be the most insidious person in terms of making sure Chris never quite 'gives up', for better or for worse. Even when Barb passes and Chris gets even a vague glimpse of the future ahead, Anna will always be there, telling him that the future will be peachy and the people who don't get you can go screw themselves. All of this truly makes me wonder whether Anna will decide to stay in the picture long after Barb is gone...normally, I wouldn't see her falling out of cyberspace since she gets so much gratification from asspatting Chris, but what else more is there going to be of Chris once Barb passes? What will happen to what is probably the most meaningful relationship outside of his family, no matter how toxic it is to his well-being, when Anna decides she's milked him for all he's worth? Then what? ...Or will it somehow work the opposite way and Chris will see the light and sever his connections with Anna? But will he still give up when he sees the incredible damage he's done to his health, to others, and to his overall quality of life?

I mean--I really don't know. In one respect, I still want to think he has some faint modicum of hope that's being strung along by the fact he's not completely isolated (yet), but on the other...looking at his newest selfie tells me he may have already given up.

He'll probably never give up, not without professional help. The people coddling him and telling him that it's everyone else's fault that nobody wants to date him only reinforce his belief that it's the world that needs fixing, not himself.
Also, the only people that could ever assert any measure of influence over his life (i.e. his parents) screwed the pooch early on by doing only the bare minimum to treat his autism.

When his aging hormones die down (probably already started with his diet and lack of exercise) and the tiny effort he makes in the pursuit of china just seems like unnecessary work.

I think eventually either Anna is going to tire or Chris' pity party and cut ties, or Chris is going to say "You know what? You're not here and you don't know. Fuck off!" to Anna. Then again they may be totally Autistic for each other and will feel like weird outsiders together online.

As long as he keeps on thinking that he's "speshul" and, therefore, deserves a "speshul" treatment from the rest of the world, never.

He's not going to give anything up because he's not really doing anything. He isn't being proactive towards anything. He just thinks he is. He thinks he's putting in a good day's work at the sweetheart search by burying his head in a game at McDonald's, or avoiding eye contact at Wal-Mart. If this search was something that he was putting real effort and energy into, he'd quit almost immediately, because WORK IS HARD! (:_( When will he stop dicking around Charlottesville aimlessly? Never.

That raises a good point. Besides obviously "Girlfriend, caretaker, sex-giver", what does he even WANT to do in life? He's doing it now.

It's that Plato's Cave analogy that someone brought up awhile back. Chris has basic desires, but with no comprehension of the deeper philosophical, spiritual or intellectual pursuits available, he literally does not realize what he is missing. Now it's possible that with his limited intelligence and comprehension abilities, those deep and personal abstract journeys simply aren't available to him anyway and he wouldn't be missing out on them. But whatever his mental abilities are, it's safe to say that he hasn't come anywhere close to reaching his own potential. That's partly his fault and partly his idiot parents' fault. Because Barb has done an equal amount of nothing with her horseshit life.

So what Chris wants is what any deranged toddler with hormones would want: Coloring books, pity, death on his enemies, unlimited power, respect, mommy, and sex - not in that order.

admittedly, I'm surprised at the answers. Never? I was pretty sure he gave up when Bob died and he lost the trial.

No more optimism. No more Sonichu. No more videos. No more adventures.

Just old habits and despair.

I mean, look at his recent self-photos. Is that the face of a person who wouldn't give up?

Look at it this way, Chris was posting that up because somewhere in his mind he still thinks "Nah, I'm not the problem." He's still got some of that spunky 'Tism optimism that makes him think he actually has a shot and he's looking for confirmation of this train of thought through the ass-pats of Anna and the 10 other people he thinks are his friends.
