I hear life is very good in Tatarland. Tatar is really not a difficult language to learn and the quality of life, especially in Kazan, is really good. It's in Russia and you don't have to learn Russian.

Poland is a shithole. Russia is too mostly, but at least it's interesting, there's a lot of different cultures and different places within the country because it's so large. A knowledge of Russian will get you very far as well, because a bunch of ex-Soviet countries also speak Russian/widely use it as a common tongue, so you'd be able to travel to a lot of different places if you wanted to learn Russian and live there. That's the only advantage of either, in my view.
Poland by comparison, seems like a boring country to me, small and urbanized. As someone with family from there, I don't see why anyone would willingly choose to live there above other countries in Europe.

Southern Europe is a very nice place to live in if you have a decent income. Food and rent is cheap, in some places, the people are nice and the weather is fantastic.
