Many people would argue that McDonald's has the best french fries. As a french fry expert I would have to disagree. Wendy's has superior french fries that I cannot get enough of. Better cuts of potato, a crisp yet full taste.

Which joint do you believe has the best fries and why?

I'm fond of Rally's/Checkers fries, but on the other hand I feel like seasoned fries make for an unfair comparison on the quality of the fry itself, since you can more easily mask dubious quality with delicious seasoning.

I hate french fry seasoning. I just want regular fries.
Cut of french fry is also important. I think shoe string fries are cheap and tasteless. Straight cut/natural fries are much better and thicker.

I'm a W E D G E cut man myself, but that doesn't really fly for fastfood. The only big chain that I can think of off the top of my head that does wedges in Kentucky Fried Chicken.

That's true. It's probably because wedges take longer to cook and are more expensive than straight cut or shoestring.

Does anyone actually like crinkle cut fries? Culvers makes good crinkle cut but otherwise...

Do you guys remember when Burger King made a big deal about changing their fries? The new fries had a really unpleasant, musty taste. Not sure when they rectified their mistake, but they have normal fries now.

I have to point out that McDonalds fries n Germany are absolute ass. I'm eating McDonalds fries rn and they're as perfect as they can get (imo) but in Germany they have absolutely NO redeeming qualities. They're floppy, no crunch, no fluff inside, taste like ass. Oh and the McDonalds over there in general everything tastes like oil, the drive thru menu at this one place i went to on the outskirts of a minor city looked depressing and that was just this year.

God I'm mad at the real life

Five Guys has the best fries.

Of the "Big Four" fast food places (McD, Wendys, BK, Arbys), I'll go with McDonalds, although I do admit a soft spot for curly fries. The current BK fries are pretty good, but BK changes their fries every year or so it seems like.

I do not, personally, like Chic's waffle fries. Checker's fries are good, if you like seasoned fries. So are Bojangle's fries.

But, again: Five guys fries are best fries.

Best franchise chain french fries are Burger King's from like 1998, lately though I guess McD's probably. I like Wendy's skin-on fries in theory, but they're not that great in practice. Would definitely take some Arby's curly fries over any sort of waffle fries but Arby's is way overpriced for what it is.

Five Guys is great if you want a shit ton of fries.
McDonalds fries are best if you're dipping them in stuff like ketchup, bbq or hot mustard.
BK's fries are pretty damn good as is.
Rally's fries are great seasoned fries.
Fuckin' Arbys is all about them curly fries, fuck everything else there.

I want to believe that there's what you could call an 'ultimate combo'. Certain food items from different fast food places that in turn create the best possible meal. The best sandwich, fries, nuggets, drink and dessert.

Mickey Ds. But they have to be just out of the oil, and zero salt.
Eat them burning hot with no salt, no ketchup. Just potato and oil flavor.

I don't eat anything else from McDonald's.
Only go there for the fries.
