When people find themselves unable to find decent employment that pays a living wage, in desperation, many will turn to sex work and many others will enlist in the military. In general, society shames the sex workers and honors the soldiers, when in the minds of anti-imperialists like Ms. Johnstone, volunteering to commit mass murder on behalf of rich people is infinitely more shameful than people who sell sexual gratification to people who can't get laid any other way. How is it that people have been conditioned to think that mass murder is a good thing , but that if you can't find a mate, you shouldn't be able to buy the comforts of sexual release from anybody?
This is where the power of the "Big Lie" can be seen pretty clearly. The predator class wants their human chattel to be angry and unhappy, hating themselves and each other instead of uniting to overthrow their oppressors. How can we change this conditioned value system from "killing is good, but fucking people you're not married to for money is bad" ? How can humanity ever overcome this notion that "might makes right" and that violence is an acceptable method of conflict resolution?
Since they are the single biggest driving factor in the acceleration of climate change, a global cease fire and greening of the military is, in my mind, the only way to soften the blow of the profound changes that are already happening to the earth's surface, as the quantum mechanics of the system force the carbon cycle back to homeostasis. Two other moves that have proven to be effective at reducing crime are to decriminalize sex work and drug usage. Dwight Eisenhower envisioned peacetime projections of American military technology for constructive purposes in disaster relief and building habitat in previously uninhabitable environments like under the ocean and in outer space and to build infrastructure in underdeveloped nations.
Kennedy tried to carry that forward, but got murdered for his trouble, because war is simply too profitable for the power elite to give it up. Personally, I see no end to it without a coordinated mutiny by the commanders of all the world's military forces or intervention by an advanced civilization. Otherwise, the status quo will remain unchanged until there's a nuclear exchange or the planet forces the hand of the people deluding themselves into thinking they can control nature.
