Well they’re both compensating for something they lack. North Korea has nukes and.....nothing else.
You might think China holds some high cards, but I think they’re just a bigger DPRK. They barely have enough food to feed their people (10% of their land is agrarian or able to be used) and their current expansion into conflicted territories I think shows they need room.

The Chinese are crafty shits when it’s the mainland but coastal Chinese people are nice and only try to screw you over half the time.

North Korea, where if you step into a residential quarter it could be one of a dozen residential buildings you are not allowed to enter at the penalty of hard labor. Where in China, the people will stick a cigarette in your eye if they don't like you. Yeah, I know which one is freaking worse.
