Locke. He's not bad, but I don't like how everything he's written has been distilled down to "muh natural rights mean I need twelve AR-15s"
Not that there's anything wrong with having 12 AR-15s. I'm just annoyed that the concept that exerting yourself on the world giving you intrinsic domain over whatever you've done somehow got lost along the way and now it's just "muh natural rights. god given rite. free market. 2a. fuk u"

Im surprised no one mentioned Marquis de Sade here, or maybe they have and I missed it.

Massive pedophile, and a faggot. He is literally where we get the word sadism from. If you are ever unfournate enough to read even a bit of "The 120 Days of Sodom" or his other works I actually advise you don't. This is coming from someone who usually isn't affected by such things. If you don't know what i'm talking about just use faith for the first time in your life and not look up something on the internet. It's really unfortunate he died from old age. He fucked a 14 year old for four years before he died, while always getting into trouble molesting other young girls. Luckily his son had most of his unpublished shit burned when he died.

To give a slight inkling of the type of things written in 120 days...

"the final 150 anecdotes are those involving murder. They include perverts who skin children alive, disembowel pregnant women, burn entire families alive and kill newborn babies in front of their mothers" He also writes about men who sodomize three year old girls. Luckily they aren't written in too much detail. However he does go into great detail about the torture of a 15 year old girl.

If Slaanesh was real the Marquis would surely be a Daemon Prince.

Pascal because his wager is pure autism.

Adding infinite suffering/pleasure to an equation about our mortal and finite lives is just retarded.

A lot of the "rogues' gallery" of philosophers, it's really their fanclub that's bad. Even the French postmodernists are less to blame than the American literature departments that latched onto them.

Although I'm not sure of much of Confucius's teachings played a part of fostering the toxic work environments in East Asian countries, I do have some dislike for him if indeed his teachings lead to it. Those things include working very long, and not necessarily efficient hours, and always needing to agree with your superiors. And yes, the East Asian work environments have lead to good things, i.e. Japanese cars being rock-solid reliable (although that reliability has fallen off in recent years), and great video games that came out of Japan, and it goes to show how lackluster US work ethics can be at times. However, the drawbacks those punishing environments have, i.e. Japan and South Korea having some of the highest suicide rates in the world, people literally overworking to the point of death, and numerous preventable tragedies, i.e. the Sewol Ferry Sinking, the Korean Air Flight 801 crash, and the Sampoong Department Store collapse, are just sad to see.

Never heard of that. The social side of Confucism is "everyone should stick to his plate and do not try to go against Heavenly Mandate", which is terribly unfashionable nowadays, being read as justification of privilege. But the long work hours are more of a Capitalist thing.

Japanese work environments evolved from Japan entering into a psychotic pressure-cooker version of American Corporate Capitalism to create the Post-War Economic Miracle and never stopping, even when that mentality caused the 90's Bubble to burst because everyone was making too much money (no, really).
Chinese work environments exist because China is a command economy that thinks "human rights" are a punchline.

I do wonder where South Korea got the same ideals for their toxic environment as well, since their suicide rate is even higher than Japan's and China's rates, I think. Granted, South Korea was considered to be a third-world country for a while, and the rise to pretty much first-world status was an achievement itself.

Blend of Japan and China, like everything else about Korea. Fun tidbit: South Korea's government has had "special wartime powers" that include the ability to detain without probable cause and unlimited influence over the press for its entire existence thanks to the fact that they are technically still at war with North Korea.

If I were to write a list of the worst philosophers and idealogues, these would be my Top 20 picks.

1. Karl Marx
2. Ayn Rand
3. Augustine of Hippo
4. Cotton Mather
5. Michael Foucault
6. John Calvin
7. Robin D'Angelo
8. Malcolm X
9. Peter Kropotkin
10. Mikhail Bakunin
11. Germaine Greer
12. Moses Maimondes
13. Jean Jacques Rosseau
14. Mao Zedong
15. Leon Trotsky
16. Jean-Paul Sartre
17. W.E.B. DuBois
18. Andrea Dworkin
19. Houston Stewart Chamberlain
20. Slavoj Zizek
I would add Bell Hooks and Judith Butler. I see a lot of people ripping on my boy Kant, but if you want a contemporary torturer of words, literally for the sake of "queering" it, then Butler it is.

These two and the lot outlined in the book Cynical Theories, including their postwar/postmodern predecessors like Derrida, Foucault, Marcuse, etc.
All of it conjoining activism with post modern ideas into a horrendous tenet of perpetual grievance mongering by reinstating the concept of original sin through meta narratives, power structures and discourses. Shit so laughably internally inconsistent, yet esoteric enough to most outsiders allowing it to spread freely.

@JambledUpWords : seeing your post above mine about Crenshaw - Give Cynical Theories a shot, Crenshaw did draw inspiration from Dubois. Hooks, Dubois and Crenshaw are linked together, one individual picking up the excrement the other left behind.

As said, Diogenes for sure. He was a piece of shit when you think about it. He was homeless and lived off of the generosity of others while simultaneously shitting on them for actually caring about something. When his city was being marched on by invaders, while everyone else was trying to build fortifications and weapons to, you know, try and prevent everything they know from being burned and their women and children raped or carried off, he just rolled a clay jug around as fast as he could because

He was an edgy cunt and a total failure as a man in every way imaginable. Unfortunately in this day and age because of le edgy meme culture retarded incels and le blackpill nihilists tout him as some kind of genius, when really he was just a proto-neet faggot that deserved to be made fun of, beaten, or executed.
Makes me wonder if the record we have of Diogenes was the ancient Greek equivalent of a lolcow thread.
As an "edgy" undergrad many years ago I came across Derrida (and others of similar ilk) and was swept up in the sheer joy of the word-play and gamesmanship of it all. I also felt quite interested in some of the tenets espoused by the deconstructionists of the day. After a couple of years I came across his introduction to Husserl's Geometry. I realized then that he should/could have stopped after that one work. It said all he needed to say about his own thinking just as much as it had anything to do with Edmund Husserl and the phenomenological school. Derrida, to me, spent an entire career repeating the same sleight of hand card tricks, already detailed in what was quite an interesting first book. Just my own opinion, mind; but I know where you are coming from.
So his books are the philosophical equivalent of Monty Python sketches?
Failing to disprove Hume's Guilotine was the beginning of his problems. One that's really observable just by the practical application of natural selection. Then his application of his own philosophy falls apart from there.

Yes, he is technically against SJWs, but what he actually wrote was the SJW-lite position, which set the stage for his followers to use Da Science to completely bulldoze his objection. Which happened in a Steven Universe PSA.

By the time he talks about determinism, the entire project breaks since determinism has the underlying assumption that people can't improve themselves or as he put it, "bad genes, bad parents, bad ideas, and bad luck [...] No human being stands as author to his own genes or his upbringing. [...] In fact, it seems immoral not recognize just how much luck is involved in morality itself" (109). If bad parents beget bad children, it creates an infinite regress of genetic immorality, which we can absolutely apply to the Black community. They definitely have bad parents and bad ideas, and to the Leftists, bad luck too. Can we then try to administer a cure to their genetic immorality as he suggests a paragraph later? Is Sam Harris a racist now? He certainly applies this standard to Islam since they also have bad ideas, bad parents (in his opinion anyways), and the bad luck to be living in the Middle East. Free will is a key component of all ethics because it makes the assumption people can do better than before. Really, what kind of message is it to tell your child that they can't be a better person than they already are? We see the results of that thinking with SJWs.

Combined with laying the groundwork for destroying constitutional rights, I've come to the conclusion that Sam Harris wasn't just a pretentious Atheist, but one of the people who laid the groundwork for the Moderate Left to slip into Identity politics. Sure, Derrida, Foucault, and Post-modernists introduced a bunch of obscurant nonsense into the Humanities, but he and the other Atheists contributed to the rot by accepting their premises at the speed limit.
And now Foucault and Derrida's influence is so ubiquitous that even open reactionaries accept their premises.

The Wiki article says he also had a fetish for whipping, which he did IRL at least once, to a woman he took in as a servant.

Yeah, he really did feel the Warp overtaking him (as a good pain).

Sounds like what happens when you take a culture as intensely demanding as Imperial Japan, and then force them to be pacifists. Dying in battle for the Emperor becomes working yourself half to death in the office for the corporation.

I don't have anything against Kant the person, but it's a rare argument that's dumber than the categorical imperative.
"Treat others how you want to be treated" is one of the foundations of civilization. The categorical imperative is just an extension of that and you're literally an uncivilized nigger if you don't realize that

"libertarian socialism" (an oxymoron),
it does make sense if you're a marxist. Marxists believe that human nature can be transformed into communism (new socialist mann) so in the end the communist system won't have to be enforced by the state but rather the people will just live, be free and be communist at the same time with either a limited state or no state.
