Also, why are Blacks classified as African American when Africans don't exactly think fondly on us?

I used to think of if someone white from South Africa emigrates here, if they can claim that they're African American on census papers and other demographic stuff.

The problem is that Americans born from former slaves have a different culture from naturalized citizens from africa. While both will face similar racial discrimination, one is usually considered whiter than the other (the ones who had the money and choice to come over). African American encounters problems now that actual africans are immigrating, so the term Black tends to be used instead. Problem is, other races like south Indians come in and then you have to justify why THEY aren't dark skinned.

American blacks descended from slaves do have their own culture and needs, the problem comes when you have extremist and radicals and general leeches that overtake a movement when uncontrolled by a central authority within the movement, not a master but a body of government.

No, because the Moor of Venice Othello has always been protrayed as a black man, even though he was probably supposed to be Moroccan. There's also the term Blackamoor, which ostensibly was meant to tell the difference, but it doesn't really.

I think the term's sort of lost its literal meaning, to where, if I were in a room with 100 random Americans, and I called a black person from the UK an "African American", 95 of them wouldn't blink. But then called a white immigrant from South Africa the same, their immediate response would overwhelmingly be "no", and then like 30 of them would have a thunk.

It's politically correct nonsense, anyway.

I like to use "Bantu" especially when I've been in arguments with Hoteps or Black Hebrew Israelites. It's not a slur, it's ethnically accurate for almost all black people in the US, and it implicitly disregards their claims of being descendants of Egyptians and Israelites.

Not in the US, no. In South Africa it's not exactly a slur but isn't considered polite, similarly to how ”kaffir” means non-Muslim everywhere apart from South Africa but is an incredibly offensive way of describing a black guy over there.

This reminds me of how, on another forum, I once asked a question about Indian recipes and spent longer than I'd like to admit wondering what ”****** lime peel” was supposed to be.
