I don't know. I only heard about it in the Brianna Wu thread where she was bitching or retweeted people bitching about it not talking about the trans people involved in things and stuff.
I don't know. I don't know what gays and trans people have to do with Stonewall Jackson owning a bar.
Apparently they changed several major players from the black, trans people they were in real life to white, cis people. Although, I kinda have to agree on this one. If there's one place where you'd think there'd be a reasonable expectation of representation, it'd be the fucking Stonewall movie.
Then again, Roland Emmerich lives off in his own little la-la land where all people are noble and good and entirely interchangeable, so I don't even know at this point.

This is pretty much it. Stonewall was a pretty big drag bar and drag was a much bigger part of gay culture back then. I don't see many drag queens in the trailer.
Still excited about the movie though.
So are the people complaining at all correct about some kind of trans erasure going on, or are they trying to claim all the drag queens as trannies?
I thought it was going to be about Stonewall Jackson, the hero of the Confederacy who was killed by friendly fire. For reals, have never heard of Stonewall.
I've only seen the trailer, so I'm not sure. I haven't read up on it much short of a couple of click-baitey articles.
Stonewall was a pretty drag-heavy bar (it was one of the few in NYC that allowed people in drag in) and the lines between drag and trans have been, and still are, really blurry depending on who you ask. And "true" trannies weren't welcome in a lot of these places or seen as part of the gay movement that was burgeoning. So I'm gonna say...probably some of Column A and some of Column B.
Yeah I don't get it either, instead of saying "I am glad they are talking about this, let me tell you more about the other groups involved" they just want to burn the whole thing to the ground.

Why are people so up in arms about poor, historically inaccurate representation when the real offense is Emmerich's direction?
Tumblr is full of historical revisionism that makes drag Queens trannies and makes everything about trannies. The woman who threw the firstpunch was a butch lesbian but Tumblr loves its colored trannies so much, she gets written out. Idk why people are so butthurt, but they were that way over Dallas Buyers Club too
True. Many of the people the tumblr-trannies try to claim wouldn't really be considered trans today, but were transvestites of one sort or another.
Times were different back then. This was before the era of: "I'm a woman and therefore my penis is a woman's penis!" Even some of the "street queens" primarily identified as gay men, instead of trans women.
Look here for an example of a "street queen" who identified as a gay man, was known as both Marsha and Malcolm. And didn't throw a hissyfit when somebody triggered him by using the wrong pronoun.

Or Sylvia/Ray Rivera who also called and thought of himself as a gay man at times, despite also having a female persona. And who ended up living with a woman, and to the teeth gnashing of tumblrites everywhere refused to be labelled a lesbian.

Now why do they try and claim people who weren't transsexual, and whine about "LITERALLY KILLING TRANS PEOPLE THROUGH ERASURE!!"
Probably their victim-fetichism, and usual attempts at making transsexuals much more common than it really is...
