Why are some user names green and some gray in the members online section?

Some are green, others are gray. Why is this?

I assume green ones are open, and grey ones are hidden/private. I think there's a setting somewhere for yours.

Gray means the user is doing something that isn't displayed in the "last seen" section when you hover over their name. Things like just viewing the general forum index.

the green names are good ppl and the grey names are the bad ppl.

It looks like this. When I disable "Show your online status" my name turns gray. It doesn't seem to effect what users can see in terms of me being online or what I last viewed, but it does seem to effect a private browsing tab and my color.
