Back in the 16th century, the portugese have traveled to the new world to gain all of their riches and their fortunes. They colonized places like Brazil, Macau and several places in Africa. When the portugese found the Island of Japan, they immediatly found a home at the bay of Nagasaki, befriending the Daimyo Omura Sumitada, That place became a hotspot for trading for Portugal and Japan and Japan was especially interested in the weaponry that the Portugese would bring.

What turned the tights in the relationship with Portugal and the rest of europe, was that Daimyo Toyotomi Hideyoshi one day learned that Portugese slave ships have taken japanese (especially women) as slaves from several places like Nagasaki and Kyushu as working labour or for sexual pleasure, which where brought to their colony in Macau. Hideyoshi was so disgusted with what he heard that he immediatly told the Portugese and all christians to stop that. And he also forbid any sort of christian propaganda as a result. It would take another 200-300 years for Japan to open themselves to the West.

Now, with all that history that the Japanese have with the portugese and the rest of Europe, why aren't SJWs celebrating the japanese for fighting back against the evil white man, that wanted to take over their land, propagating the evil christian way of life, while also doing slavetrades with their people?

Edit:
Additionally, until WW2 Japan never really had that much of a hostile relationship with any white western nation with only a few exceptions. During the sengoku jidai period, you had some clans which were hostile with westerners, but there were also some powerful clans that were extremely friendly with westerners. A good example of two such clans would be the Oda clan and the Otomo clan. The Oda clan traded heavily with the west, which contributed to its massive gain in power, and in return, it allowed Catholic missionaries into Japan. Likewise the Oda clan's leader, Oda Nobunaga even had close personal friendships with western missionaries such as Luís Fróis. The leader of the Otomo clan, Otomo Yoshishige both traded heavily and even converted to Christianity himself. (I'm not 100% sure, but if I recall correctly the Otomo clan was also the clan to make first contact with Europeans/Portuguese who shipwrecked onto their territory.)

As to why SJWs don't praise the Japanese for their resistance against whites? You didn't really start to see any nationwide anti-western behaviors until well after the sengoku jidai period was ended by the first Tokugawa shogun, Ieyasu Tokugawa (Matsudaira Motoyasu). His grandson, Tokugawa Iemitsu who was the third Tokugawa shogun was the one who sealed off Japan from the west. Why wouldn't they want to praise Tokugawa Iemitsu for doing this? He was quite possibly the cruelest, and most incompetent leader Japan has ever had. Firstly, he commanded his younger brother to commit seppuku over an already settled succession dispute. Later he taxed much of the Japanese population literally to death. When people revolted over this, he had them all killed and then used the fact that many of the rebels were Christians to have any Christian he could find crucified. He also got into multiple disputes with various Buddhist factions which led to him genociding many of them. He got rid of all of his father's retainers who'd served the throne loyally for decades and replaced them with his "friends" (possible gay lovers since he was a known homosexual). The daimyōs were so pissed about this, he had to keep them from rebelling by taking their families hostage, or having them shoahed. His policy of sealing off Japan also applied to Japanese citizens abroad, meaning even Shogunate diplomats abroad were forbidden from returning to Japan under pain of death. He was so paranoid about more rebellions that he offered lavish rewards for anyone willing to rat out people with rebellious intentions, which naturally led to countless likely false allegations. All of this led to Japan actually becoming less advanced than they were prior to his rule.

TLDR:
The one time prior to WW2 where Japan was openly hostile with westerners, was an absolutely unmitigated disaster.
