Autism makes you weird.
Because when you don't understand social rules and have an inability to connect emotionally with other, it makes you do/say weird and terrible things.
There's a reason the treatment for autism in the 'good old days' was beating the fuck out of them and locking them in a closet until they behaved. Or so I've heard.
It is a combination of factors:
1. Autism induces a degree of need for predictable routines and behaviors. Once they fix a chain of events in their braincases, failure for events to unfold in that fashion causes them stress and foixation which is difficult to mitigate unless the chain can be repaired. (Lack of resilience and adaptability.)
2. Autism reduces Theory of Mind skills, that is to say Artie Autist has a reduced ability to understand and model the thoughts, feelings and motivations of others. This usually leads to awkward social interactions that don't end up the way Artie wants, causing stress . (See 1)
3. Autism produces obsessive behaviors, particularly in regards to stress. If Artie is feeling frustrated because something isn't proceeding as anticipated because of 2, this can lead to a compulsive GOTO loop where he continues to clumsily redirect events to the conclusion he wants.
When given resources and allowed to spiral out of control over a wide audience via the internet, you end up with a LOLcow. Not that autism is THE premier cause, but it certainly can be a driver of it just like Borderline Personality disorder is, or combinations of other severe personality flaws.
Hey I'm not a huge spergEssentially the explicit reason this website exist and 99% of their users are huge spergs themselves.
I always assumed it was both. Because deep down, everyone's got a little autism and the internet is the best place to let it out.I don't think autism figures into the answer, as much as internet access does.
Because autism isn't an actual thing, it's an excuse doctors have come up with to peddle psychiatric drugs the parents of weirdos.
