maybe im paranoid but there has been alot of talk about people eating meat and how we need to stop eating so much meat since its "bad" for the enviroment. its like they trying to shame people who like eating meat the same way they shaming people who like to smoke or drink alcohol and convince people to eat incests instead.

whats your thought on all this?

Livestock has been responsible for about 10% of greenhouse emissions in the last decade. This includes the growth of their feed. Commercially raised meat isn't that good for you anyway. It is raised on a cheap diet of corn, soy products and mystery protein supplements. This deprives the meat of nutrients and fills it with monounsaturated fats, which are a likely cause of western disease. It is better to eat a diet that emphasizes plants above all else.

Insects are a practical solution in every way except the obvious gross factor that makes it impossible for our culture to pick up. They grow rapidly and require far fewer resources. I have personally eaten those novelty freeze dried mealworms and the taste was surprisingly pleasant, like seasoned pine nuts. It is the texture and idea of the bug that makes it difficult to swallow. I imagine processed foods like those cricket flour protein bars would be an easier route.

Because they want all the meat for themselves, dont listen to them.
You are gonna be dead long before greenhouse deals any significant damage to the planet, not your issue if everything goes to shit in 100 years. Eat as much meat as humanly possible and enjoy life.

lifestock co2 emissions are a complete retard argument

all the carbon they consume and consequently emit comes from biomass they eat, which in turn took it from atmospheric co2 in the first place. therefor, livestock impact on the carbon cycle is, by definition, a net zero.
tl;dr unless your cows eat coal and drink crude oil, they have no net impact on atmospheric co2 levels at all. the entire argument is baseless fearmongering aimed at scientifically illiterate morons like @Surf and TERF who will gladly eat up any bullshit the 'green' left puts out

Someone's a little sensitive.

Read a little more carefully and notice the part where the growth of feed is included. This requires immense amounts of carbon fuels and nitrogen fertilizer. Regardless of your political stance (and I don't have the energy or desire to start an internet slapfight over climate change) this contributes to greenhouse gasses.

Because " they " want total control ... what you can eat, drink, think, say, what you can drive, where you can live, how you will spend your money ...

Personally for me the most frightening thing that is being pushed today is the so called " cashless society " or paying over mobile phones .

In Sweden that's a big thing ( many places refuse cash ) , just imagine the potential for control there .

You want to pay for Hamburger ? Sure comrade it's gonna be double the price because of " muh global warming " ... what's that, you are white male ? It's triple the price then, just scan this code here ... thank you and enjoy brave new world .

Only in america.

In the real world, beef is raised on either grass on marginal land, or on feed grown on land that can't support human food crops. Cows and sheep are an efficient way of turning grass, and other things that we can't consume, into a full package of proteins, fats, vitamins and nutrients that we can consume.

The apostle John predicted this was going to happen 1900 years ago but people can't see it as it's happening around them. Smh my head. 🤦‍♂️

Consider the impact diet has on human development. It's huge. Everything from muscle mass to tens of IQ points and mood. By controlling what people eat you can essentially control a large part of their destiny. Now consider how short the lifespan of bugs are and how the quick birth cycle means they can very quickly make changes to their genome to go one way or another. There is a lot of potential for good and evil there, but I don't trust the ones in charge to err on the side of good.

The biggest red flag for me is the way this is being marketed. "Eat bugs to save the planet, you'll be such a good person if only you eat bugs." The argument is never just "Because they taste good." as was the case with other gross edible things like lobsters.

When a snake offers you an apple, you are going to want to think twice before taking a bite.

I'd be down to stop eating meat because I'm gay for animals or because I hate the ZOG Jew factory farming, but fuck all those faggots telling me to stop eating cow steaks because their farts contribute to greenhouse gases. Maybe we wouldn't have to worry about that shit as much if the CEO of the company you're writing for didn't own 14 houses and flew around on his own fucking plane. At that point I'd rather we kill a bunch of you faggots.

Frankly I feel like this is much like the going green with plastics trend where they started shitting out flimsier plastic bottles and sold it to consumers as a good thing because they were "helping protect the environment" by saving money on plastic and keeping the savings for themselves. I feel like all this recent meat shaming is going hand in hand with all the articles about bug and synthetic protein. These corporate cocksuckers just wanna normalize cheaper meat substitutes. (and yes, synthetic meat is more expensive...for now).

Memes aside raising livestock is fucking terrible for the environment and is roughly 10% as efficient as growing crops due to the base 10 rule of the ecology pyramid. Methane from farts and decomposing shit is a much more potent greenhouse gas than CO2. Cattle spread disease, specifically antibiotic resistant disease, like a motherfucker due to the fact that antibiotics are literally chopped into the feed and from how tightly packed they are in factory farms. Not to mention the fact that we feed them corn which is unnatural and just asking for some awful infections.

There is literally nothing about factory raising livestock that is okay, but because we have so many goddamn people it isn't economically feasible to raise only free range, grass fed beef. Meat prices would skyrocket.

They want the world population to continue going exponential, but even the most insane elite knows that this will lead to massive issues if everyone is wanting to live a normal life (IE eating nice food, living in a house larger than 5mx5mx5m, etc).

Shut up and eat your mealworms with the rest of your 10 billion ape monkey friends. The steak and lobsters are reserved

Why? I'll tell you why.

Because they want to pay back the jocks in school who made them swallow bugs.

What makes me giggle is all the people who are shrieking about our carbon emissions like we're the ones responsible for anything. From their standpoint, you've got China and India taking jackhammers to the foundation, and they're worried about a hole in the sheetrock in the den.

But maybe the apologists have a humiliation fetish and actually enjoyed being made to swallow bugs...

As an aside, insects are not a viable replacement for meat at the quantities necessary to feed our current population, or even significantly lower. They don't just sprout fully-formed from the earth; they have to be fed and a significant chunk of that feed will have to come from the same place as cattle feed, taking up as much space, and requiring as much energy and pollution, to gain a food that requires significantly more processing in order to be palatable to most people. They could work as a supplement to livestock feed, but not much more than that.

As far as the environment goes, I don't think there's too much, if anything, to be gained from switching to a meat free diet as there'd be even more forest clearances taking place to provide land to produce the base ingredients for meat substitutes, the production of which can be energy intensive & highly processed. Depending on where we live, products, such as soy, lentils & chickpeas often have to be imported too, so there's obviously going to be an increase in the carbon footprint for imported foodstuffs as opposed to homegrown meat. IMHO, this is yet another problem caused by overpopulation.

Grass fed beef is a good source of omega 3s as well. I’m lucky to have been raised in a place where this was the standard. The problem is that grass fed cows don’t fatten up quickly enough to keep up with current demand.

Edit: The common suggestion is to eat LESS meat. It’s healthier to minimize it in your diet anyway. I’m not sure how so many people misunderstand this as a demand to go vegetarian or vegan.
