I will say that without him, we would never have had that glorious and amazing Kanye in the Oval Office video. So you know, credit where it is due. That was solid TV.

I like Trump. He's done an excellent job considering the ridiculous bullshit that's been thrown at him. Just reading this thread pisses me off and makes me wish you all get the Hillary Clinton presidency you deserve.
If you cannot handle criticism of your political side, you aren't thinking rationally. Trump is a man, not a god who needs your uncritical and total devotion.

I don't really have a political side. I've never voted in my life and probably never will.

My main political stance is NOT THEM while pointing to SJWs and the Dems who have shit the bed over Trump.

I think most of the criticism of Trump in this thread is utter shit and just proves that the MSMs lying works.

Okay, then provide examples. Explain how Trump being better than the left makes him actually good instead of merely less shitty.

If anything, that's worse. Any political position based on "owning the libs/cons" is going to end up making those who hold it look like tards.

Did we watch the same 2008 dem primary? the attack ads on Obama came up to the line of calling him a commie nigger hippie. Much like Trump, the majority of the DNC rallied behind him when he became the nom simply because they'd rather ride the tiger than be in front of it.
You mean the NeverObamas? Yeah I loved it when registered Democrats started burning their registrations because they were mad the DNC were blocking Obama. Oh that's right that never happened.

See this is the mentality I was talking about. "Your side" against "My side" I supported Obama because I thought he was the best person for the job at the time. Now though, all of a sudden I'm a lifelong Republican supporter with a MAGA hat, flag and scarf, and Trump is Alexander the great and is perfect in every way.

It's the sort of mentality that makes it impossible to talk to people about these things. I see Trump as a nice return to putting America and its citizens first, instead of the last 20 years of corporate globalism, military intervention, and weak borders from both parties.

But people get mad and say "no, you have to play the game, you have to choose if you are red or blue team, you aren't allowed to say they are the same! they are sooooooo different! omg! And Trump is so totally Red Team, y'know why? Because I'm blue team and we hate Trump"

No he's not a good person to put up on the stage if you want charming smiles and sweet statemanship that you can swoon over, but I wasn't interested in him because of that. If that's all you care about then why don't you just watch the Voice?

The idea of Trump is great. Iconoclast anti-establishment demagogue who owns the libs, breaks all the rules, politically bullet-proof and drives the MSM insane because their usual smear tactics don't work. I understand why people like this idea. I like this idea.

The reality of Trump is that he is a petulant, stupid, egotistical baby with dumb ideas and no idea what he's doing. He's in this entirely for his own wealth and power, and the people working for him are engaged in a state of 24/7 damage control to stop him wrecking things he doesn't understand or breaking the law.

In the UK we had (and still have) a guy called Boris Johnson, you guys might of heard of him when he was mayor of London. Quite similar to Trump in many ways - wealthy background, "tell it how it is" attitude, seemingly immune to his own gaffes and the press' attempts to smear him, stupid haircut. But eventually he was exposed as the unprincipled megalomaniac jerk he was. He was caught telling massive lies during the Brexit campaign (one of which was literally painted on the side of a bus in 10-foot letters, making it hard to deny), and also caught writing two articles, one pro-Brexit, one anti, for the same paper and waiting to see which way the wind was blowing before deciding which to publish. It became clear that he only backed Brexit because he thought Remain would win the referendum, giving him a chance to try to get David Cameron's job on an anti-Europe ticket in the event that Brexit didn't happen, which would let him unite the Right against him. In the end he managed to blow up his career by winning the referendum, and it became clear that he sold out his friends (including Cameron, who he went to school with), his party and his country just in a grab for power. I think that ultimately Trump will suffer the same fate as Johnson, he'll make one mistake too many and even his own supporters (I used to really like Boris Johnson, boy was I an idiot) will see through him.

Trump doesn't have the negotiation skills, the political capital or the intelligence to get any of his agenda passed, and bloviating hot air will only cover his failures for so long. Like Johnson, it will be his allies that finish him, not his enemies.

That's basically what the PUMA (Party Unity My Ass) movement was, except it charged that the DNC backed Obama in favour of Hillary because of misogyny and pandering.

And that, right there, is the problem.

Then there's the fact that in the Republican Party, they're hard up for alternatives- they ran moderates in 2008 and 2012; McCain and Romney still got painted as evil, greedy, racist misogynists. This reinforced the need to run a bombastic demagogue, and Trump proved that it works.

The Never Trumpers have a big problem too. Who is their "face"? Mitt Romney's brand is already tainted, Ben Sasse is too green, and... well, nearly everyone else either shut up and votes with Trump 99.8% of the time or has gotten primary'ed/ retired/left the party since the election.

I don't have a "side" either. I just see Trump as a buffoon and incompetent. Believe it or not, you don't have to be a CNN drone to reach this conclusion.

If he is so stupid and egotistical, then how did he win the Presidency on such a small budget? How have the investigations turned up nothing for 3 years? If what you say is true, then everyone in the American Government, the Justice System, the FBI, the CIA, and the voters, are 50 IQ braindamaged people in comparison. That such an idiot could dodge them all for this long means everyone else is a freaken moron.

But one thing I do agree on, he doesn't have much political capital, because if you want that, you have to pay your dues as the other people in the party do. You can't just have some private citizen come in and start being President. I mean, that's just not how the American aristocratic system works, you have to have a name like Clinton or Bush behind you. Else you get hardly anything done.

I said he was stupid and egotistical, I didn't say he was a crook but for some reason you read that into my post?

You don't have to be smart to be popular or to attract publicity. Axl Rose is stupid and egotistical, but if he ran for president he'd get a decent slice of the vote simply because he's good with a crowd and people know who he is. Doesn't mean he'd be a good president.

The problem with modern democratic politics in general, not just Trump, is that the skills you need to get elected are completely different skills to those you need to govern effectively. Being good at lying, bullying, backstabbing, kissing ass, making empty promises, bribery, saying everything everyone wants to hear even if it's contradictory, making embarrassing things "disappear", those are the skills you need to get ahead in a big political party and to get elected. But those are the very worst skills you need in an effective manager, diplomat or administrator. Would you want someone like that as your boss? Not in a million years, but in the West we have a political system that promotes those kinds of people to the very top and then wonder why everything is such a shitshow.

I am pretty sure you have to be pretty egotistical to want to be president in the first place.

We have had occasional utter dumb ass presidents. Harding.

So then where's the impeachment? Where's the trial? I've been told it's any minute now. So what happens when his term ends and nothing happens? What are people going to say then?
Mueller wasn't hired to "get an impeachment." He was hired to look into Russian interference with the election, which actually happened and which lots of people, some of them directly connected to Trump, have been convicted of. It isn't his job to manufacture an impeachment if there isn't any evidence of Trump being directly involved, though.

Yes we know what his job was. The stupid thing is, people acting like major powers influencing elections, or outright killing heads of state and installing their own is some sort of new thing that Trump invented with Putin. Oh a businessman had foreign business dealings! My word, who would do such a thing? I have no idea why now people suddenly care about it outside of "I don't like Trump, what can we use?"

Makes these people look transparent as hell. Like they decided they already just hate the look and sound of Trump, then they'll eat up whatever rationalizations come their way later.

But when his Presidency is over they can throw a massive party as if they just won WW2 and averted the apocalypse, and we can get back to good old Foreign wars and Sanctuary cities. It just makes these people look shallow as hell, like they'd be happy if they had a Trudeau that had a secret police force that disappeared people. Because then they'd have the optics they wanted, to hell with anything else.
