Why using OwO or UwU while not being part of the marginalized community could make you a bigot
For years the furry community has been the fluffy tailed butt of everyone’s jokes. Yet recently an online trend is for people (who have not suffered the shame and social shunning of the furry community) to post furry coded sayings such as “OwO”, “UwU”, *Nuzzles*, and many other “furry-isms.”
This style of cultural appropriation is only a symptom of a system that actively oppress minorities. The main culprit of people appropriating Furry Culture are (surprise, surprise) WHITE PEOPLE. These white people don’t even know what’s it’s like to spend hours looking for a roleplay partner or having to shell out thousands of dollars on a sexualized sport mascot outfit because no social programs exist to help buy this medical necessity.
So yes white people, if you don’t know what a fursona is, if you don’t even have a spirit animal and don’t dress up like a sport mascot, you are STEALING SOMEONE ELSE’S CULTURE and you should you be ASHAMED. Furries have suffered enough at the hands of our human-supremacy based culture.
