Why Tony Hawk Pro Skater/Underground is the greatest game of all time - Felt spergy and decided to rant about a decade old game, might delete later

I can say without a doubt in my mind, the Tony Hawk game series is one of the greatest things that I ever played in my life. If I had to choose between game series in this day and age that constantly impress me over time, I have to choose the following ones (feel free to debate if you’d like):

1. Tony Hawk series
2. Dragon Quest series
3. Deus Ex series
4. Devil May Cry series
5. NBA Jam series
6. GTA series
7. NiER series
8. Soul Calibur series
9. Tekken series
10. Metal Gear Solid series

There are some honorable mentions on that list, but I’ll talk about that some other time. Either way, the Tony Hawk series is an awesome series for the amount of creativity, passion, detail and uniqueness that skateboarding games brought to the forefront of gaming. It’s also because of this that I have to share the reasons why I believe it should be the greatest game of all time.

Either way, I just wanted to share my thoughts on this incredible game series. Long live the masterful Tony Hawk Pro Skater series, as well as the Underground spin offs. This is a beautiful game and should be played by all.

I don't think anyone in the world dislikes the early Tony Hawk games. The ones after Underground 2 weren't very good though.

they were great games. i played the shit out of them when i was a kid, at least on days when i wasn't out having gnar seshes skateboard riding myself.

somehow, i have never managed to forget this line from thug, perhaps because one day, i hope to use it.

I played a bit of the Pro Skater games as a kid, and I remember loving the two THUG games. Last Summer I fully played through the first two PS games and enjoyed them immensely. Really makes me want to replay THUG at some point.

I also friggen adore the soundtrack in these games. Still listen to them on a regular basis.

The series was great at one time and it is unfortunate it's become nothing more then a punchline. Put many, many hours into 2, 4, and THUG. Don't remember much after THUG 2 except American Wasteland exists but couldn't tell you anything specific.

Oh yeah, these games were a blast, the only sports series I ever cared about.

Fun fact, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 was the last game I played before Trump was elected, I think it was the night before election day.

Been playing though 4 since a friend gave me a ps classic thats piss easy to pirate on and it been a nostalgic blast. The best part for me has always been all the secrets, it made the games feel huge like no matter how much I played there's always something else to find.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 was my first experience with System of a Down haha (Shimmy!) Most of the games had a pretty great soundtrack and solid gameplay. Underground was cool too.

Fucking hell. I was thinking about this game the other day. I didn't play it much but I was wondering why they hadn't revived it.

I didn't know they ran it into the ground though. I only played the first one so it seemed straight forward, dick around on a skateboard collecting tapes.
