Will we start to see cultural repossession of media? -

One of the more disturbing things to happen culturally in recent years was Microsoft writing Notch out of Minecraft because of wrongthink. It's a precedent where people's legacy is taken and given to others that are deemed more fit for it.

Now my question is whether this will start becoming the norm as the culture war escalates? We already have people claiming that HP Lovecraft universe is theirs and only keep the name for the brand recognition, and I have a feeling that there is an organized push to get series like Harry Potter out of the hands of the original creator to the hands of troons. Just to clarify, it's not simply rewriting works to suit modern insanity, but replacing the entire history of the work like something straight of 1984.

They've been doing this for years, and in more than just the entertainment field, remember how they made a movie that it was three black women that actually got us to the moon not the hundred or so white men. People loved that movie and even my father, a man that watches apollo 13 every year and has a library of every book written on the space race, said he was terrified that experts were calling it a true story.

It's a simple goal wait for the person to die, give their credit to someone who doesn't deserve it but has the proper credentials, wait for the memory of the original version to disapeer. What's creepy is that we are doing it so quickly now but then again that's what happens when you sell your IP.

statues of the old heroes typically get removed during regime change. nobody really seemed to notice this over the past few years because of trump "winning."
the culture war was won years ago already. you're currently living in its wasteland.

Stuff like that has been happening since the dawn of media. Today it's troons and fags making demands, tomorrow it'll be some other stupid group of people.
Culture always engulfs and warps things to fit the views of the most vocal.

It's already being done. Old cartoons and stuff getting the Woke makeover. Death threats over skin color of the most obscure characters. Etc etc.

It's why I mostly stay out of sharing stuff I've created in the relevant communities. Someone always bitches about something.

lol good luck trying to "steal" the Lovecraft mythos. All the short stories, poems, and novellas penned by the big man himself are in the public domain. It's like trying to steal the Iliad or the Shakespeare: an impossible task.

By the by, most of the Lovecraft mythos wasn't by Lovecraft himself but by August Derleth. Its basically due to him that Lovecraft is so popular as he basically formed the links in the chain of Lovecraft's stories. A lot of it had to do with successive authors building on Lovecraft's foundation. So these things are complicated and multi-layered. Its also utterly impossible to appropriate Lovecraftian horror. His name itself is the genre. You can't remove the man from it.

You can't have repossession of media if you don't sell it. For example, George Lucas created Star Wars. However, he no longer owns it. The legacy that built it is his, but the current owners can remove him if they want. This has been tried for centuries, it never really works out. You're basically trying to remove the works of great people from things they created. Oftentimes they go hand in hand.

But honestly, most people will just sell it for massive amounts of money. Its either recognition or cash. And when it comes down to it, most people would rather be rich. I know I would.

:story:

Popular culture, K-12 education (and likely much of UG), etc have/will see a rewriting to support the current Narrative, those have always been exaggerated and more about narrative and pushing fuzzy feelings via soft focus than actual facts. I suspect that the truth, with its nuance, will remain available in more detailed, dry texts.

Galileo didn't get in big trouble for saying the planets revolved around the sun. He got in trouble for writing Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems where he created a strawman insert named Simplicio, a pun for stupid with a thin pretext that it was Simplicius of Cilicia, to actively mock the Church's views on it[1], in a format that was intended to be scandalous and entertaining, rather than a dry academic piece. He did this after the Church already told him to "correct" the errors in his previous work, which was pretty much adding "in Minecraft" to the end in terms of how much it would obscure its meaning to other scientists.

Likewise, the church didn't hang Bruno just for saying the universe couldn't have a center, they hanged him for being an edgy 16th century Styxhexenhammer666 who wouldn't shut up about it.

[1] and, arguably, Pope Urban VIII, though according to Wikipedia most modern historians dismiss that this was Galileo's intent

The culture warriors don't want headlines like "Google engineer proves women dumb" or hate facts like 1353 getting in front of plebeian eyeballs; but they also want medicine and psychology to keep working (though the troon shit may be pushing it). They want to control narrative, not facts. Facts that contradict the narrative if you think about them/have context will generally be allowed in non-mainstream avenues provided you don't come out and say it in a sound byte. Mainstream culture will play fast and loose with the facts, and lockstep in narrative. Basically a much milder form of doublethink.

The Kiwi Farms is full of spergs who care more about facts than narrative so we get triggered when they pull this shit, but it's not exactly new. Render unto Caesar, etc. Says someone who spent the last week triggered as fuck about police murder stats.

remember how they made a movie that it was three black women that actually got us to the moon not the hundred or so white men.
Was the movie a complete fabrication, or did they exaggerate the role of a few people who were actually involved? If the latter, we've been doing that forever -- people don't want to read about the huge teams of people working together to accomplish ~all engineering/experimental science, they want it simplified to a few heroes, and most movies like this tend to boil down to historical fiction, even before wokeshit. I remember looking into it a bit when that movie came out and couldn't find a good analysis of how accurate it was.

Hidden Figures was to push the idea that blacks can be scientists and engineers so kids don't just picture white men when they learn about history. Think about how half the shit about Einstein in the popular culture is just myth, or the cult Stephen Hawking gets. This shit has been triggering me before it was being used to push woke bullshit, but at least back then I could talk about it IRL.

TL;DR I Fucking Love Science and all the other fandoms should probably just be gassed.
