I am curious though, if the evidence of cheating/tampering really is rock solid, does Billy's letter still carry bite to it?
At best, the situation is now that, regardless of the merits of their position, they know GWR is not going to be on their side. They've more or less committed to retracting and have to defend that choice if they're dragged in through discovery, which they certainly will be, or have to testify, which they may if they're subpoenaed and don't resist it.
Whether they should have it or not, GWR has a lot of perceived credibility.
