After devoting much time to Wizardry 8, I decided to make this thread for anyone that has played any of the Wizardry games, be it any of the main series entries or the spin-offs that came from Japan. What are anyone's thoughts on the series, be it the entire series or any individual entry?

I've played 1, 2, 3, and 5 (complete with my own hand-drawn maps on graph paper) and they were all fantastic. I briefly tried 6 but the new battle system seemed too tedious and fiddly.
I recommend looking up the fan-translated SNES remake of Wizardry 1+2+3. I think that's the best point of balance between the early-80s PC originals and the fully-polygonal versions I'm sure they have today.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to stumble into a Fizzle Field, get my hobbit thief ashed by the Cone of Fire, and then Malor into solid rock XD

A Knight of Diamonds one would be nice or one where Werdna does come back and he is the main character in it all.

I keep trying to play 6, and mother of fuck is it hard. My parties used to just get decimated by bats three minutes into a game, though lately I can last about fifteen minutes and two encounters with small pests before I get my ass handed to me by a group of rogues. I keep feeling like I need to get better with the character creator, but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Try looking up some walkthroughs to know what kind of party to build. It could help in the long run, especially since this is one of the games that lacks any maps save for a player made map.

Considering that fact I may as well add in this: Dibella, one of the Nine Divines of The Elder Scrolls, was named after Mary Jo DiBella. Aside from being a tester for Daggerfall, DiBella was a tester for Wizardery 8.

One other thing to say about Wizardry is that to this day, it's still going on in Japan. Last game made as far as I know was an MMO.
