Why is the WNBA so unpopular?

Because it's bad basketball for one thing.

Even if you take out the major athletic factor and just focus on shooting the basketball.

I plugged the team stats from the league websites into my Excel and averaged things out.

At least women can shoot free throws.

Fun fact - the worst shooting team in the NBA (Charlotte Hornets 0.434 FG%) is still 10 points higher than the WNBA league average.

And this doesn't take into account all the other weaknesses. This is just shooting.

Why is the WNBA so unpopular?

Inferior product. They refuse to do what the lady football league did and have its players play in lingerie. It's a sport built on explosiveness, strength, hand eye coordination, all things women have been scientifically shown to be worse at than men. There is literally no reason to ever watch a WNBA game over an NBA game. Really over anything.

This is one of the good things about having nothing to lose. You get to do stupid shit like this and nobody cares.

The WNBA makes less than 1% of the NBA's total yearly revenue and almost every team operates at a loss.

Teams change ownership almost every year or are owned by other NBA teams. The sales of teams are rarely reported and typically purchased by LLC's.

Professional bowling has more than 3 times better ratings than the WNBA on television.

More people watch children's little league baseball on TV.

There are twitch and call of duty players that make more money than entire WNBA teams.

More people watch re-runs of "cops" and "unsolved mysteries" than watch the WNBA.

The average WMBA player makes over 70k a year but would need to take more than a 50% paycut to make the league profitable.

More people watch women's tennis.

The WNBA has almost no reason to exist. No one watches this shit. If these bitches hadn't walked off the court and it being reported on national news no one would have known.

All of these facts are hilarious.

Women's sports are generally only popular if 1) they can show skin and/or 2) their lack of power and athleticism compared to men can provide arguably better entertainment to their sport. Women's basketball will never succeed in either of these.

Women's soccer doesn't show much skin compared to beach volleyball but I remember /sp/ posting so many webms of sniff sniff and brap. Plus I guess people like European, Nordic and Anglo features over the sheboons in soccer I noticed.

Soccer, and tennis are sports that reward skill and execution more so that outright power. Women can do that at a good enough level that people will pay to watch just for that. There are some tennis purists who believe women's tennis is actually better than mens tennis due to men overpowering the game now and the art of the volly has been lost in the men game. Womens game still retains that.
